VIRAGE TO UNVEIL NEXT-GENERATION IP TV SOLUTION AT NAB 2005

Virage to Offer a Live Demonstration of the World's First Automatic Technology Enabling Real-Time Personalized Television

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - April 18th, 2005 - Virage, a wholly owned subsidiary of Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: "AU" or AUTN:L.) and a leading provider of rich media communication and content management software, today announced that it will unveil a suite of new products aimed at the Internet Protocol Television (IP TV) market at NAB 2005. Virage IP TV supports the delivery of video on demand and brings the power of Autonomy's award-winning enterprise technology to television, video and audio assets across the Internet. The new Virage IP TV Suite allows the automatic processing and retrieval of television, video and audio content, from any source including over-the-air broadcasts and free internet content, and has already been successfully implemented by internet search specialist Blinkx in their internet TV service at http://www.blinkx.tv/. Virage will demonstrate this solution at their booth, SL4934 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Based on Autonomy's IDOL technology, the Virage IP TV Suite is the world's first technology to make TV and other multimedia content automatically manageable and fully searchable in real time. Autonomy can automatically capture and index the entire video stream directly from the television, allowing content consumers to immediately locate specific clips and identify the exact content they wish to watch or listen to. This ground-breaking technology offers broadcasters the ability to deliver their content directly to content consumers with maximum flexibility at minimal cost of ownership, and offers content consumers the unprecedented freedom to create their "own" TV, allowing them to pick and mix clips as they please and eliminate material that is not of interest to them.

Autonomy's IDOL technology understands the content of all aggregated material, not simply keywords, and is therefore able locate the multimedia content that is of relevance for an individual user with the greatest accuracy. Leveraging this intelligent capability, Virage IP TV Suite also can automatically identify and instantly alerts consumers to related content in the media as it appears, keeping them constantly informed and ahead of the latest developments. All collated material - whether TV, audio or video content - can then be automatically clustered and organized for effortless retrieval and convenient use.

Dr. Mike Lynch, group CEO of Autonomy commented, "This product enables IP TV providers to offer today's consumers with an easier way of finding video and audio content. For the content provider, Virage IP TV Suite offers an automatic and cost-effective production and distribution platform. With Autonomy's IDOL IPTV Suite we have entered the next logical step in innovation, applying Autonomy's capabilities to Internet TV and video, offering broadcasters the platform to provide consumers with a revolutionary opportunity to reject their role as a merely passive audience and create their own interactive TV."

Autonomy's unique Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) integrates unstructured, semi-structured and structured information from multiple repositories through an understanding of their content. Autonomy grants enterprises the flexibility to use advanced information retrieval or legacy-based approaches. At the heart of Autonomy's software is its ability to process text, voice and video and identify and rank the main concepts within them. It then automatically categorizes, links, summarizes, personalizes and delivers that information. Autonomy's technology also drives collaboration across the enterprise and enables organizations to effectively leverage expertise. Autonomy's infrastructure technology is used to automate operations within enterprise information portals, customer relationship management, knowledge management, business intelligence and e-business applications, among others.
