Verity and Wachovia Executives Discuss How Search Improves Customer Service Quality

Heightens Business Performance at Delphi Group's Information Intelligence Summit

SUNNYVALE, Calif. - 2005-04-11 - Verity Inc. (NASDAQ: VRTY) today announced that two of its senior executives and Wachovia Corporation's (NYSE: WB) senior vice president of intranet services will deliver separate presentations on how to realize more value from enterprise search and new directions in that technology at the Delphi Group's Information Intelligence Summit 2005 in Phoenix, Arizona from Tuesday, April 19 to Wednesday, April 20.

Who:

Pete Fields

Wachovia's senior vice president of intranet services

Dr. Prabhakar Raghavan

Verity's senior vice president and chief technology officer

Sunil Nagdev

Verity's senior vice president of professional services and technical support

What:

"How to Increase Customer Service Quality and Responsiveness"

Tuesday, April 19, 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. ET

Fields will explain how Wachovia has improved customer service quality and responsiveness through faster, cross-enterprise search capabilities. Attendees will learn how one of the nation's largest financial services companies manages more than 150 million time-critical customer interactions annually from a rapidly growing customer base on a 24x7 basis. The evaluation and deployment process for a Verity K2 Enterprise solution roll-out to 5,000 Wachovia representatives plus ways to optimize investments in knowledge management tools while simplifying the overall technology environment and reducing the corporate risk profile will also be presented.

"Search: Ready for Renaissance or Recession?"

Wednesday, April 20, 2:45 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. ET

Dr. Raghavan will review the unprecedented progress in text research and technology in recent years and contrast that with the relatively torpid uptake of text as mission critical in the enterprise. He will offer recent research and tie it into the setting of enterprise applications. Dr. Raghavan, along with being Verity's CTO, is a consulting professor of computer science at Stanford University, where he teaches the course sequence on Text and Web Retrieval, and the editor-in-chief of the Journal of ACM and a Fellow of the ACM and of the IEEE.

"Keynote Panel: Service Providers"

Wednesday, April 20, 2005, 4:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. ET

This panel discussion with Verity's senior vice president of professional services and technical support, Sunil Nagdev, offers a range of views direct from the front lines. Attendees will learn from leading practitioners from the service organizations of software supplier and integrator communities how to implement successful information intelligence projects. Moderated vigorously by Delphi Group's research director Hadley Reynolds, this panel provides attendees with the best opportunity to ask the hard questions of the people who make sure information intelligence systems work.
