ZANTAZĀ® Enterprise Archive Solution Achieves Record Growth in the UK Government Sector

LONDON (March 11, 2005) - ZANTAZ, Inc., the global leader in Information Retention and Discovery Management solutions, today announced significant momentum in the UK government sector for ZANTAZ Enterprise Archive Solution (EAS), the company's advanced, policy-driven email and file archiving product family.

The growth reflects the company's ability to fill the gap that exists within the government sector in the UK for a highly scalable, cost-effective email and file management solution for storage optimisation, message retention and compliance with Freedom of Information (FOI) laws that took effect January 1, 2005.

UK government bodies including Northumberland, Doncaster, Gloucestershire and Maidenhead/Windsor have recently secured agreements with ZANTAZ' UK distributor, Essential Computing for ZANTAZ EAS. They join a rank of local authorities and police constabularies who are using ZANTAZ EAS to ensure compliance with new regulations.

The Freedom of Information Act 2000, which applies to approximately 100,000 public authorities in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, requires government agencies to adopt and maintain a data protection and sharing scheme that enables the proactive distribution of information to the public and efficient response to information requests from members of the public. In most cases, data must be retrieved and produced within 20 working days.

"ZANTAZ EAS' archiving and retrieval capabilities make it easier for us to comply with regulations that require quick and efficient access to public information," said Keith Taylor of Northumberland Council. "With ZANTAZ EAS we are now more confident of meeting public requests promptly and accurately."

ZANTAZ EAS securely captures, indexes and archives all email and files in real time. Users then have the ability to search for and retrieve an email or file in seconds, eliminating lengthy searches through back up files and ensuring the efficient and cost-effective production of data for public requests.

ZANTAZ EAS gives organisations the ability to implement efficient archive policies for the retention, management and control of enterprise information. ZANTAZ EAS minimises the costs of searching, retrieving and producing email in response to a discovery request while also maintaining data integrity and offloading overburdened email and file servers. Additionally, ZANTAZ EAS has been designed for massive scalability, making it an ideal solution for large, geographically distributed organisations.

"ZANTAZ EAS has a long history of success in the UK and other European countries as a result of its ability to offload email and file servers and reduce growing storage and administration costs," said Steve King, President and CEO, ZANTAZ. "As regulations such as FOI become more commonplace in the UK and Europe, enterprises that leverage ZANTAZ EAS will benefit from its ability to address these operational issues as well as the need to quickly and accurately retrieve and produce information for compliance with industry regulations and corporate governance policies."

The growth in the government sector comes on the heels of a report by IDC that declared ZANTAZ as the global leader in email archiving with 35 percent revenue market share for its hosted and onsite solutions (IDC's Worldwide Email Archiving Applications 2004-2008 Forecast and 2003 Vendor Shares Market Analysis Report; IDC # 32639, December 2004). The report, published by IDC, a global market intelligence and advisory firm in the information technology and telecommunications industries, examines the email archiving applications market by looking at solution providers and overall trends.

ZANTAZ EAS is available for Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Domino/Notes and NTFS files.
