EidosMedia Embeds Autonomy's Technology in new generation Publishing Tool
Cambridge, England - January 12, 2005 - Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU.) a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced an OEM agreement with EidosMedia, a leading provider of software solutions for publishing organizations. EidosMedia has embedded Autonomy's technology into its knowledge management and cross media publishing environment Méthode.
EidosMedia offers specialized software tools for publishing and new-media organizations such as the Financial Times and other leading publishing groups in Europe. Through its user-friendly knowledge-management and publishing environment Méthode, which integrates Autonomy's technology, EidosMedia provides editorial teams with instant access to text, graphics and multimedia assets spread across a variety of different repositories.
Autonomy's advanced pattern-recognition software adds a number of highly valuable functionalities to EidosMedia's products. The software's ability to automate and accelerate processes on structured and unstructured data is of particular interest for the media industry, where timely access to the right information is the key to success. Unmatched features such as automatic profiling and alerting allow the speedy delivery of content to the right recipients without the need for any manual input. Information can be imported and retrieved from a variety of sources and in numerous different formats. Additionally, the software enables EidosMedia to provide their customers with automatic hyperlinks to relevant content from internal and external sources. Autonomy's unique Application Builder toolkit allows EidosMedia to add all of these modules to their products fast and effortlessly.
Gabriella Franzini, general manager at EidosMedia, said "We aim to incorporate the very best resources available into Méthode. Autonomy is a highly scalable product developed for a very demanding user base. By embedding Autonomy into our products, we can now index and update very high volumes of documents each minute while still continuing to respond to user queries promptly and efficiently."
Charlotte Herbert, Global Marketing Manager Autonomy commented, "Autonomy is very pleased to announce its extended agreement with EidosMedia. Autonomy will continue to add value to the Méthode product, offering superior information capabilities that deliver considerable return on investment."
Autonomy's unique Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) integrates unstructured, semi-structured and structured information from multiple repositories through an understanding of their content. Autonomy grants enterprises the flexibility to use advanced information retrieval or legacy-based approaches. At the heart of Autonomy's software is its ability to process text, voice and video and identify and rank the main concepts within them. It then automatically categorizes, links, summarizes, personalizes and delivers that information. Autonomy's technology also drives collaboration across the enterprise and enables organizations to effectively leverage expertise. Autonomy's infrastructure technology is used to automate operations within enterprise information portals, customer relationship management, knowledge management, business intelligence and e-business applications, among others.
