AUTONOMY INCLUDED IN ITALIAN GOVERNMENT'S E-DEMOCRACY GUIDELINES
Cambridge, England - November 30, 2004 - Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU.) a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced that the Italian Ministry for Innovation and Technologies has included Autonomy's software solution in the government's new Guidelines on E-Democracy, 'Linee Guida Per La Promozione Della Cittadinanza Digitale: E-Democracy'. The new E-Democracy Guidelines have been developed to improve citizens' access to information and promote active participation in the public decision-making process in Italy.
The government's Guidelines are addressed to public decision-makers and local administrators who are planning to initiate e-democracy projects in their communities. The document provides guidance on the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), in order to achieve greater transparency in local governments and improve public participation. Autonomy is one of the selected software providers included in the 130-page document, for its outstanding Knowledge Management and Communication and Expertise solutions. The E-Democracy Guidelines are available for download, http://www.crcitalia.it/UserFiles/1691.pdf.
Charlotte Herbert, Global Marketing Manager at Autonomy commented, 'We are delighted to announce that the Italian government has included Autonomy in its Guidelines for E-Democracy. Powering applications in numerous government departments all over the world, Autonomy has continuously proven its value for the public sector, allowing organizations to extract and benefit from the full potential of their information assets.'
Autonomy's unique Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) integrates unstructured, semi-structured and structured information from multiple repositories through an understanding of their content. Autonomy grants organizations the flexibility to use advanced information retrieval or legacy-based approaches. At the heart of Autonomy's software is its ability to process text, voice and video and identify and rank the main concepts within them. It then automatically categorizes, links, summarizes, personalizes and delivers that information. Autonomy's technology also drives collaboration across different departments and interest groups and enables them to effectively leverage expertise. Autonomy's infrastructure technology is used to automate operations within enterprise information portals, customer relationship management, knowledge management, business intelligence and e-business applications, among others.
