Autonomy To Support Corporate Social Responsibility Rating

Cambridge, England - November 24, 2004 - Autonomy Corporation plc (Nasdaq: AUTN; LSE: AU.) a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced that Vigeo, an independent corporate social responsibility rating (CSR) agency based in France, has chosen Autonomy to support its efforts to evaluate commitment and management of companies throughout the world, taking into consideration stringent social, environmental and corporate governance standards.

Vigeo's aim is to promote corporate social responsibility as a measurable managerial practice, encouraging companies to put equal importance on the interests of shareholders as on their social, community and environmental accountability. Among other benefits CSR allows investors to fine-tune their investment choices, company directors to better assess risks and employees to benefit from the auditing of human resources development in the work place. Autonomy's software solution will provide Vigeo's analysts with powerful tools to facilitate the effective assessment of companies through the automatic categorization, hyperlinking and retrieval of relevant information. By aggregating data from numerous different sources including external websites and internal information and forming a conceptual understanding of this content, Autonomy will allow the agency to make efficient use of all knowledge available on the companies examined.

Nicole Notat of Vigeo said, "Vigeo's success in analyzing corporate social responsibility heavily relies on our ability to access the most accurate information available on corporations, taking into account factors such as human rights, health and safety, labor standards and environmental concerns. We are anticipating that Autonomy will make it significantly easier for our analysts to examine this type of information, through the software's ability to provide automatic links to pertinent content, as well as its automatic categorization and alerting facilities."

Emmanuel Meriot, Autonomy Country Manager France, commented: "Autonomy is proud to support Vigeo in its aim to achieve greater social corporate accountability. Our software has continuously proven its value for compliance agencies, allowing investigators to concentrate on the analysis rather than the discovery of information and permitting them to use their knowledge and skills in the most effective way."

Autonomy's unique Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) integrates unstructured, semi-structured and structured information from multiple repositories through an understanding of their content. Autonomy grants enterprises the flexibility to use advanced information retrieval or legacy-based approaches. At the heart of Autonomy's software is its ability to process text, voice and video and identify and rank the main concepts within them. It then automatically categorizes, links, summarizes, personalizes and delivers that information. Autonomy's technology also drives collaboration across the enterprise and enables organizations to effectively leverage expertise. Autonomy's infrastructure technology is used to automate operations within enterprise information portals, customer relationship management, knowledge management, business intelligence and e-business applications, among others.
