Dralasoft Announces Dralasoft BPEL Orchestrator

Built Upon Proven, Robust Workflow Technology, New Product Enables Design, Execution, and Monitoring of Shared, Web-Based Business Processes

WESTMINSTER, CO - 2004-10-27 - Dralasoft, Inc., a leading innovator of Java™ technology for Business Process Management (BPM), announced today the release of Dralasoft BPEL Orchestrator, the first commercially available BPEL (Business Process Execution Language) workflow product offering a mature, robust core engine and comprehensive management toolset. With Dralasoft's BPEL Orchestrator, users have a proven, complete solution for optimizing SOA (Service-Oriented Architecture) processes within, and between, enterprises.

Specifically geared for SOA processes, BPEL is increasingly seen as the preferred open, interoperable, and portable solution that enables BPM within a diverse, shared computing environment. According to industry research firm Gartner, Inc., "Standards such as BPEL will drive the evolution of Web services into a technology that can help enterprises orchestrate complex business processes."1 Gartner also states, "We see the Business Process Execution Language for Web Services (BPEL) as the strategic direction for process definition."2

Dralasoft BPEL Orchestrator enables the potential of BPEL by leveraging Dralasoft's existing and highly-regarded workflow technology. BPEL Orchestrator provides comprehensive BPEL design, execution (runtime), and monitoring support, through the following capabilities:

• Design—Dralasoft BPEL Orchestrator provides a visual design environment for building BPEL-compliant workflows. It provides import and export capability as well as the ability to deploy and execute workflows. The design tool also generates WSDL (Web Services Description Language) definitions based on the process flow interaction requirements;

• Runtime—As a comprehensive orchestration runtime for executing BPEL flows, the execution capability is built on Dralasoft's robust and proven Dralasoft Workflow platform. The engine supports interaction with Web Services as well as XPath;

• Monitoring—Complete monitoring and management support for control and insight into workflow activity, both individually and as a group.

"Enterprises are quickly embracing SOA and BPEL as defining elements of a new age of interconnected service delivery. However, the complexity of such services demands dependable and robust workflow management," said Suresh Ramaswamy, president and chief technical officer of Dralasoft. "Dralasoft believes in BPEL as the preferred standard for web-services-based business processes, which is why we've introduced Dralasoft BPEL Orchestrator, a pioneering, end-to-end solution built on one of the industry's most respected core workflow technologies."

Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) is a software service architecture comprised of a mix of interfaces that can be called upon to perform various business processes. Though built on similar principles, SOA is different from Web services, a technology built on a collection of languages such as SOAP and XML. Instead, SOA is independent of any specific language or group of languages; its main benefit is the modularity with which its services can be enhanced or enlarged.

According to Gartner, "The move to service-oriented architecture [SOA] and the creation of service-oriented business applications [SOBAs] are transforming the software market."3 It is expected that BPEL, SOA and SOBAs will combine to enable highly-efficient and valuable online services such as the ability to automatically update customer accounts, check credit ratings, or validate inventory status.
