ZANTAZĀ® Releases EAS 4.0 With File Archiving and Enhanced Compliance Applications

Gives Customers Power and Flexibility to Address the Risk and Cost Associated with Email and File Management

PLEASANTON, CA (October 19, 2004) - ZANTAZ, Inc., the leader in information risk management solutions worldwide, today announced the availability of EAS 4.0. This announcement was made at Gartner Symposium/ITxpo in Orlando, Florida.

This new release of the industry-leading email management solution includes three new applications: File Archive Solution (FAS), EAS Supervisor and EAS Pre-Review. These modules significantly expand the features and functionality of EAS, creating an enhanced corporate message and file management solution that enables organisations to better control their mission-critical information while improving their ability to manage the risk and costs associated with compliance and litigation.

The new features of EAS 4.0 are in direct response to requests from ZANTAZ' worldwide, blue-chip customer base, including companies such as TNS, one of the world's leading market information companies.

"We deployed EAS to address storage issues within our messaging infrastructure," said David Sparks, IT Services, TNS. "With the increasing importance of email in corporate communications and the likelihood of UK legislation making retention a requirement in the future, we wanted to get ahead of the game. We are delighted to hear that ZANTAZ is continuing to invest in EAS. These new features will help us manage new record types and improve our ability to meet legislative regulations."

EAS 4.0 offers the industry's most comprehensive set of options for the automatic, policy-driven archival of email messages, instant messages and files. With its high scalability and superior performance, EAS 4.0 gives organisations the ability to implement efficient archive policies for the retention, management and control of corporate information. Using these policies, EAS 4.0 intelligently offloads Microsoft Exchange servers and file servers, considerably improving their performance and availability. Further, by applying true single instance storage and highly effective compression algorithms to the archived information, total storage requirements are significantly reduced (by up to 80%), resulting in dramatic cost savings.

"EAS has always offered customers the broadest range of options for automatic, policy-driven archival of email messages, and it now does the same for electronic file systems," said Roger Erickson, General Manager and Senior VP of Digital Archiving and Compliance Solutions, ZANTAZ. "With file archiving, supervision and pre-review capabilities added to EAS, companies can quickly customise their environment to meet their specific email and file management needs and better manage corporate risk and costs."

he ability to access and search relevant electronic records without delay can be critical to an organisation's defence against pending litigation or regulatory investigations. By proactively archiving email and files, corporations maintain records in an easily accessible archive, reducing the risk of not being able to produce data in a timely manner for the courts or regulatory bodies. Additionally, email and files can be stored in accordance with regulatory requirements, ensuring records are tamper-proof and secure.

According to a recent report*, Gartner found that the email archiving market is forecasted to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 49% from 2003-2008. Carolyn DiCenzo, Vice President of Research at Gartner commented, "Corporations are searching for solutions to help control their rapid electronic records growth. As regulations become more stringent and corporate storage needs expand in all industry segments, we will see a growing need for advanced email and file management products to help companies reduce costs and manage the risks associated with electronic information."

A major benefit of email and file management is the ability to retain records and have fast, simple and accurate access in the event of a regulatory or litigation request. To this end, EAS 4.0 provides the following new capabilities that enable organisations to leverage archived email and files for compliance and discovery purposes:

File Archive Solution (FAS)

Companies can extend their email archive with ZANTAZ FAS, a complementary application to EAS that allows organisations to manage both email messages and NTFS file systems using a single archive server. Large enterprises with multiple geographical locations can take advantage of EAS' inherently scalable architecture, which is specifically engineered to address massive, distributed information management requirements.

EAS Supervisor

EAS Supervisor enables customers to monitor and proactively control their corporate communications, ensuring compliance with the many supervision regulations that now govern email and IM usage, including NASD 3010 and NYSE 342. With EAS Supervisor, compliance officers can access the archive through a sophisticated and dedicated interface that combines powerful search capabilities with automatic categorisation, integrated workflow and case management tools.

EAS Pre-Review

EAS Pre-Review offers real-time review allowing compliance officers to efficiently and effectively supervise electronic communications such as email and IM before they are sent. Potential violations of policy or regulations are immediately flagged and quarantined, with automatic workflow designed to avoid any undue disruption of existing processes and procedures.

EAS 4.0 begins shipping in October, 2004.
