Verity Expands Capabilities of its Easy-to-Use Software Download Center

Increases Number of Products Available for Free Evaluations

SUNNYVALE, Calif - 2004-10-18 - Verity Inc. (NASDAQ: VRTY), a leading provider of enterprise software that enables organizations to maximize the return on their intellectual capital investment, today announced a new, expanded software download center (DLC), located on the Verity Web site at http://downloadcenter.verity.com.

Along with an improved user interface to further simplify the download process, Verity has added two more of its products to the site along with Verity® Ultraseek®, the company's powerful, enterprise search software. The software products now available in the Verity Download Center site are:

• Verity Ultraseek, powerful, downloadable enterprise search software well-suited for organizations that need a pure search engine to enable employees, partners and customers to quickly and accurately locate intellectual capital on Web sites;

• Verity Federator, which brings together information sources from both inside and outside an organization with a single query without requiring an intellectual capital management system "intellectual capital management system" to index or re-index additional repositories; and

• Verity KeyView® Software Development Kits that enable business applications to interact with the widest range of intellectual capital and languages possible-295 file formats in 70 languages. All three kits-Verity KeyView Export, Verity KeyView Filter and Verity KeyView Viewing-are the technology of choice for leading commercial software applications requiring text filtering, text extraction as well as text viewing and printing functionality.

In addition to new products to choose from for 30- or 60-day, no-obligation trials, the new Verity DLC now has the capability of presenting its content in either English or Japanese, a move reflecting the growing popularity of Verity Ultraseek in Japan.

"The Verity Download Center is a better, easier and faster performing resource for administrators, users and developers, alike, to learn about and try several of our enterprise search engines as well as our market-leading KeyView software development kits," said Andrew D. Feit, Verity's senior vice president of marketing. "We encourage people to visit the DLC, investigate what we offer there and take a no-cost, test drive of their product choices."
