Verity Announces New "Education Anywhere" Program

Live Online Learning on Developing, Understanding and Deploying Advanced Search, Classification and Recommendation Software

SUNNYVALE, Calif - 2004-08-30 - Verity Inc. (NASDAQ: VRTY), a leading provider of enterprise software that enables organizations to maximize the return on their intellectual capital investment, today announced that its education programs on Verity K2 advanced search, classification and recommendation software can now be delivered live via the Web by Verity training instructors. These online courses provide global enterprise customers the ability to quickly gain the knowledge they need to take full advantage of the product's powerful capabilities right from their desktops.

The new Verity K2 "Education Anywhere" program is available via the company's virtual classroom, a live, online learning environment, as well as from its physical classrooms located around the world. The virtual classroom provides the same course material that is used in the physical classroom and students will have similar training and access to an instructor. Participants will also gain hands-on experience working with Verity K2 software by way of innovative Web-based labs that supplement the instructors' presentations. Verity also offers customized on-site training to meet customers' diverse learning requirements and schedules.

"We recognized our customers' busy schedules. The Verity K2 "Education Anywhere" program consists of specialized modules for business managers, developers, administrators and corporate librarians to ensure that an organization has all the expertise it needs to maximize the return on its Verity K2-equipped intellectual capital management system," said Sunil D. Nagdev, Verity's senior vice president of professional services. "Our virtual classroom delivers the experience of our education centers around the globe, while offering our customers the convenience of learning in the comfort of their own office, according to their work schedules."

The K2 education courses are divided into four-hour modules, scheduled so participants can allocate time to take a class, as well as perform their job duties, during a workday. The four main courses, offered at various times of the week, cover development of Verity K2 applications and understanding K2 technologies for non-technical personnel involved in the deployment and implementation of the software.

The Verity "Education Anywhere" program's benefits include:

• Provides hands-on education programs on the Verity K2 products in the convenience of customer's own office or anywhere. Customers can participate in the courses anywhere with Internet access. Companies will be able to save on travel cost and reduce employees' time away from the office.

• Customers can spend half days in training, while still meeting project deadlines.
