Butler Group Audit Praises Aungate's 'Impressive' Compliance Solution

Independent analyst technical evaluation concludes that Aungate "dramatically improves the overall business process"

Cambridge, England - July 26th 2004 - Aungate, a division of Autonomy Corporation plc (Nasdaq: AUTN; LSE: AU.) specializing in electronic communications management technology, today announced that Aungate's technology has been distinguished by Butler Group in recent research entitled, "Communication Management Technology Audit". The full report is available at: http://www.autonomy.com/analysts/Aungate_TA.pdf.

The report praises Aungate's innovative technology, which is founded upon Autonomy's Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL), and affirms Aungate's fundamental value proposition, which is to automatically form an understanding of the content of human friendly communications such as email, Instant Messages and voice traffic, and thereby automate a vast spectrum of operations that would otherwise be manually intensive and in some cases manually unachievable. Michael Thompson, Principal Research Analyst at Butler Group recognizes Aungate as the definitive solution for a wide range of organizations who are dependant on the 80% of unstructured information that comprises digital information inside the enterprise and that they use to conduct daily business: "Whether one wants to talk about compliance, fraud prevention or detection, or just process improvement, the fact remains that the information channels that exist outside of the structured process model need to be controlled and valued; this is the value of Aungate."

Butler Group's report acknowledges the size of the market which Aungate addresses, citing Aungate's modular approach as pivotal in its ability to provide a compelling solution to a wide range of organizations both for compliance and improving business processes. "The Aungate product modules are designed in part for answer many of the issues that organizations are now facing over compliance, but they go much further than that. Although ensuring policy driven compliance, the modules can easily be utilized to ensure faster and more efficient processes and also to create a more efficient organization. It is almost inconceivable that having reviewed the available functionality any organization would be unable to find a use for Aungate that would dramatically improve the overall business process." The report follows a review by Butler's founder Martin Butler who concluded that: "While BI technologies deal more or less adequately with structured data, there seems to be fewer options when considering the huge volumes of unstructured data that most organisations accumulate. Aungate specifically addresses these needs in a way that is rather impressive."

"Aungate is honored to be distinguished by Butler Group. Our unique technology is the world's only automated solution that enables the enterprise to proactively manage increasingly stringent, and otherwise costly, regulatory compliance risks inherent in unstructured content," said Ian Black, Managing Director, Aungate. "Aungate has already enabled some of the world's leading banks and most prestigious financial exchanges and regulators to solve the core issue with compliance regulations and unstructured information - which is: its meaning and relationship to the organization's regulatory practices and policies."

About Aungate

Aungate's software powers modular or total communications management solutions by automatically forming an understanding of the content of instant messages, emails and phone calls. Deployed by the world's largest enterprises and regulatory authorities to dramatically reduce the human dependency of managing and processing these communication streams and thus the time and cost they entail, Aungate powers compliance, litigation and risk operations such as sampling, detection, alerting and routing, in real-time.

Aungate's core technology is deployed by the US Securities and Exchanges Commission (US SEC), ABN Amro, HSBC,Merrill Lynch, Lloyds TSB and Deutsche Bank.
