Verity TeleForm Solution Lets Sutter Pacific Heart Centers Improve Patient Care and Efficiency
Provides Comprehensive, Real-Time Availability of Patient Data
SUNNYVALE, Calif - 2004-07-12 - Verity Inc., (NASDAQ: VRTY), a leading provider of enterprise software that enables organizations to maximize the return on their intellectual capital investment, today announced that Sutter Pacific Heart Centers is utilizing Verity® TeleForm® content capture solution as part of a major technological upgrade throughout the hospital's network of cardiac centers in Northern California. The Verity solution provides Sutter Health's cardiologists with real-time medical history on more than 1,000 patients every month, permitting faster and more accurate care-related decisions.
Implemented by Optiform, a certified Verity reseller, the Verity TeleForm solution is a key component of the hospital's new intellectual capital management system that has been implemented across four cardiac departments, including cardiac surgery, electrophysiology laboratories, the cardiac rehabilitation program and the quality department.
"Cardiac care is information intensive as it involves hundreds of data points collected in multiple documents on each patient that are generated in the course of a treatment program," said Dr. Richard Shaw, director of research, quality and education, Sutter Health System. "Verity Teleform helps our centers be more effective and efficient in providing and evaluating patient care."
Cardiac centers are required to collect and process huge amounts of data on a daily basis that need to be entered quickly and accurately into medical information systems. With Verity TeleForm, Sutter Pacific Heart Centers can quickly capture and integrate the information into an existing database, allowing physicians to draw on it to make timely diagnoses and deliver the best possible treatment. In addition, the Verity TeleForm solution has enhanced the hospital's ability to produce quarterly data reports on a range of treatment performance topics required by two national cardiac benchmark registries, the American College of Cardiology (ACC) and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS).
"Physicians and their medical teams require accurate data, in real-time to help them provide the best care possible to their patients," said Anthony J. Bettencourt, Verity's president and chief executive officer. "We are proud and pleased that Verity TeleForm is helping leading hospitals, like Sutter Pacific Heart Centers, capture and convert both paper-based and electronic medical forms into digital data, so medical professionals have the most relevant medical information readily available to determine the proper medical treatments for their patients."
