ZANTAZĀ® Launches Hosted Exchange Archive Solution for Email Management, Compliance Archiving and Data Restoration

Customer-driven Offering Features EMC Centera as First Available Storage Platform

PLEASANTON, CA (June 9, 2004) - ZANTAZ, Inc., the leader in e-communications management solutions for compliance, electronic discovery and storage management, today announced Hosted Exchange Archive Solution (EAS), a new ZANTAZ-managed service for enterprise-level email management. The new service offers customers a single solution for email management, compliance archiving and data restoration and migration. ZANTAZ now offers customers a choice to fulfill their email archiving and management needs through either an onsite or hosted offering. The announcement was made this week at the Securities Industry Association Technology Management conference in New York (Booth #2401).

Hosted EAS will combine ZANTAZ' industry leading EAS software with hardware from leading storage vendors, all managed at a secure ZANTAZ data center. The service is the only hosted email management solution that offers all of these capabilities from a single vendor, providing customers a single point of accountability for the entire solution. The new offering also addresses key email storage issues including PST migration and deletion, email server overload and data migration from legacy media to EAS in a managed services model.

"ZANTAZ is committed to providing our customers with a portfolio of solutions that meet their unique requirements," said Craig Olson, Vice President of Marketing for ZANTAZ. "With Hosted EAS, customers can leverage a single, managed solution for data archiving and restoration that delivers benefits for all users across the enterprise-legal and compliance departments, IT and end users."

Hosted EAS offers the following services to customers:

  • Hosted EAS for email management-a mailbox management solution to centrally administer control of email policies for MS Exchange email records across geographically dispersed locations, reducing the storage load on Microsoft Exchange servers without limiting the access to email. Additionally, by migrating email data from the email server to a storage device, mailbox sizes are not limited by storage capacity of email servers.
  • Hosted EAS for compliance archiving-a compliant storage and retrieval solution that provides access to archived information to meet SEC, NYSE and NASD compliance requirements and ensures content authenticity.
  • EAS for data restoration-a data restoration and migration solution for restoring historical data from backup media and optical platters into an EAS archive, providing the ability to archive and access both legacy and live data in a single, secure, scalable archive.

EAS is architected to be storage agnostic and will work with all major storage platforms, providing customers with maximum flexibility to use their preferred storage solution in either a hosted or onsite configuration. EMC Centera CAS (content addressed storage) is the first available storage platform for Hosted EAS.

EAS, with its fully distributed architecture, provides organizations with a better way to manage Microsoft Exchange email. Using EAS, Microsoft Exchange clients can better facilitate the compliance process, protect corporate intellectual property, increase speed of information retrieval for both user and administrator, and reduce costly email server load. EMC Centera ensures the solution is highly available with enhanced disaster recovery capabilities. With this combination, companies can better address storage compliance regulatory requirements while eliminating the complexities associated with optical solutions. Email is properly managed and protected throughout its life cycle, in accordance with corporate policy and regulatory requirements.

Roy Sanford, EMC's Vice President of Content Addressed Storage, said, "The integration between EMC Centera and ZANTAZ for email storage management offers a compelling business value to customers with compliance archiving and legacy media data migration needs. Centera's new retention class and audited disposition capabilities deliver greater flexibility to our joint customers."

By migrating messages and attachments to an offsite storage solution, organizations can minimize storage cost and maximize server performance while meeting stringent legal and regulatory requirements. Hosted EAS empowers end-users with enhanced access, retrieval, and protection of email while enabling firms to incorporate email as part of an enterprise records management strategy.

As a completely managed service, Hosted EAS also:

  • Delivers rapid, low-risk deployment
  • Provides improved cost containment and financial predictability
  • Allows internal IT resources to focus on other strategic business issues

"Many global organizations need to implement email solutions that help them manage the daunting task of email storage, while ensuring they meet regulatory and legal compliance," said Adam Couture, Senior Analyst at Gartner Group. "With Hosted EAS, ZANTAZ continues to offer highly scalable solutions to help minimize the high costs, complexity and risks associated with email management."
