99 Cents Only Stores Employs Verity LiquidOffice and Advanced Process Manager to Automate HR-Related Forms for 198 Retail Locations
Discount Merchandiser Realizes Significant Time Savings, as Forms are Properly Routed with Verity Solution
SUNNYVALE, Calif - 2004-05-05 - Verity Inc. (NASDAQ: VRTY), a leading provider of enterprise software that enables organizations to maximize the return on their intellectual capital investment, today announced that 99 Cents Only Stores, Inc. (NYSE: NDN), a leading discount retailer, has deployed Verity® LiquidOffice™, a Web-based business process automation solution, along with the LiquidOffice Advanced Process Manager to automate and manage the routing and approval of human resource forms for 198 retail locations, regional offices, multiple warehouses and corporate headquarters. Verity LiquidOffice had been branded Cardiff LiquidOffice prior its acquisition by Verity in February 2004.
99 Cents Only Stores is a rapidly expanding operation, with plans to grow retail square footage by 25% across the country annually. It recognized that an efficient and cost-effective way to manage its growing diverse form-based processes, from administrative store-level human resources matters to corporate-level actions, would be needed. As the company grew and became more dispersed, the ability to ensure the accuracy and completeness of all forms became increasingly difficult. In addition, the existing form process was cumbersome and time consuming, demanding significant manual entry of data and requiring manual delivery of forms from office to office.
After an extensive selection process, 99 Cents Only Stores chose Verity LiquidOffice because of its ability to enable roles-based routing, reflective of the company's organizational structure. This feature held keen appeal as branch forms must be routed for approval by the appropriate district manager. More important, Verity's open architecture allows for easy integration with 99 Cents Only Stores' back-end human resources database. The LiquidOffice Advanced Process Manager enables the design and deployment of structured workflow processes, allowing 99 Cents Only Stores to improve business performance and enhance customer service. 99 Cents Only Stores also chose LiquidOffice because of its ability to keep costs low, allowing the retailer to better manage costs.
"In evaluating eForm automation solutions, we required a solution that would reduce time and costs associated with the management of forms while also integrating easily with our existing system framework," said Robert Adams, 99 Cents Only Stores' vice president of information systems. "Verity LiquidOffice met all our requirements and provides us with a complete eForm solution that is also easy-to-use, nearly eliminating training costs."
Verity LiquidOffice includes a clear and easy to understand user interface. This ensures that new employees and managers can learn to use the application quickly, reducing time and costs associated with training. The workflow and automatic routing inherent in LiquidOffice, which includes rules-based routing, means employees can quickly move forms through the process to completion and to storage in the back-end data system. In addition, since LiquidOffice is a Web-based application, 99 Cents Only Stores' locations always have access to, and are working from, the most current forms, guaranteeing processes aren't repeated unnecessarily and all data is captured in the original form.
"99 Cents Only Stores is a growing retail operation that puts a premium on cost- and time-effectiveness to make certain its business goals are achieved," said Anthony J. Bettencourt, Verity's president and chief executive officer. "We are pleased to help 99 Cents Only Stores meet its objectives by providing structured workflow to its human resources processes that improve productivity by reducing operational costs, eliminating data errors and redundant administrative tasks."
