Autonomy chosen by Schneider Electric as Enterprise Wide Standard

Autonomy's Infrastructure Software to Power Intranet, Extranet and Internet

CAMBRIDGE, England - April 26 2004, Autonomy Corporation plc (Nasdaq: AUTN; LSE: AU.), a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced that Schneider Electric, the world's power and control specialist, has selected Autonomy as an enterprise-wide standard for information retrieval and intelligent processing of unstructured information behind the company's intranet and extranet. Autonomy replaces an internal Verity (Nasdaq: VRTY) solution and will power the corporate intranet as well as extranet and internet facilities for 100,000 users.

Schneider Electric chose Autonomy's technology to allow employees in 130 countries to access critical information, irrespective of format or storage location. Autonomy's language independent technology connects employees across the globe by automatically forming an understanding of information and linking users to pertinent content in real-time. A comprehensive range of dynamic functionalities, including automatic hyperlinking, summarization, taxonomy generation, and categorization features enable Schneider Electric's employees to reduce time spent searching for information and maximize efficiency. In an industry besieged by challenges, such as depleted resources and souring numbers of expatriate workers, Schneider Electric realized the need to develop an intelligent information infrastructure capable of providing its employees with up-to-the-minute information.

Patrick Bouteiller Director of the eBusiness department of Schneider Electric said, "Using Autonomy as a corporate standard will drive productivity and efficiency across the enterprise. Autonomy's language independent technology provided a compelling solution for a global operator such as ourselves. The automatic language detection and optimization for 69 languages encourages working and communication across the enterprise. Collaboration features such as interest and expertise profiling allow us to foster a collaborative network with colleagues throughout the world, thereby driving productivity and accelerating our efforts to provide our customers with safe and clean electricity."

"We are pleased to announce this enterprise-wide contract with Schneider Electric to power information operations throughout the world" said Dominic Johnson, Group Marketing Director, Autonomy. "Autonomy enables large enterprises such as Schneider Electric to make the most of their assets both in terms of information and expertise in order to leverage their competitive advantage and achieve substantial growth."

Autonomy's unique Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) integrates unstructured, semi-structured and structured information from multiple repositories through an understanding of their content. Autonomy grants enterprises the flexibility to use advanced information retrieval or legacy-based approaches. At the heart of Autonomy's software is its ability to process text, voice and video and identify and rank the main concepts within them. It then automatically categorizes, links, summarizes, personalizes and delivers that information. Autonomy's technology also drives collaboration across the enterprise and enables organizations to effectively leverage expertise. Autonomy's infrastructure technology is used to automate operations within enterprise information portals, customer relationship management, knowledge management, business intelligence and e-business applications, among others.
