Verity KeyView Technology Chosen by Leading Secure Messaging Management and Protection Software Vendors

The Company's Filtering and Viewing Software Development Kits Becoming Widely Used in Category

SUNNYVALE, Calif - 2004-04-13 - Verity Inc. (NASDAQ: VRTY), a leading provider of enterprise software that enables organizations to maximize the return on their intellectual capital investment, today announced that nine secure messaging management and protection solutions providers have opted to embed the Verity&Mac226; KeyView&Mac226; Software Development Kits (SDKs) into their applications.

The nine companies - AmikaNow!, Iron Mountain, MessageGate, Messageware, On-Site Sourcing, Steelpoint, Tablus, Vidius, and ZixCorp - represent some of the leading companies in the secure messaging management and protection solutions space. These companies offer a wide range of solutions in this category such as email and messaging-based products, legal and compliance applications and services, distribution security software, messaging security, as well as transaction services applications. With the Verity KeyView technology, these companies will be able to enhance the performance and versatility of their solutions.

"The risk posed by unauthorized distribution of emails and other messaging to and from an enterprise must be managed effectively," said Andrew D. Feit, Verity's senior vice president of marketing. "Viruses, spam, various forms of electronic attack or the unintended sending of sensitive information can cause significant problems for an organization if the necessary security, risk management and compliance mechanisms are not in place. We are pleased that most of the companies in this category have selected the Verity KeyView technology to play a vital role in the effective performance of their solutions."

Verity KeyView SDKs provide users seamless access to a wide range of intellectual capital in 295 file formats and more than 70 languages. The SDKs enable the content of various messaging forms to be properly handled by an organization's email and messaging mechanisms. This capability ensures that these applications can provide a high level of system security, protection and internal or regulatory compliance. The Verity KeyView technology can be integrated quickly into all of these vendors' solutions because it supports a range of programming environments, such as C, Java and Com, as well as the Unicode character set standard. In addition, it offers support for the latest versions of the most widely used operating systems, including Windows, Solaris, Linux, HP-UX and AIX. Integrating the Verity KeyView SDKs can result in reduced development costs, faster time-to-market, and higher overall quality for global independent software vendors.
