VIRAGE TO UNVEIL NEXT GENERATION VS ARCHIVE™, VS WEBCASTING™ & VS NEWS MONITORING™ AT NAB 2004
Enhancements Extend Real-Time Communication and Content Management Capabilities
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - April 13, 2004 - Virage, Inc., a wholly owned division of Autonomy Corp. (Nasdaq: AUTN; LSE: AU.) and a leading provider of rich media communication and content management software, today announced the latest release of VS Archive, VS News Monitoring and VS Webcasting. Virage has enhanced these applications by further integrating Autonomy's Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) to automate the handling of unstructured information within the enterprise. Virage will demonstrate these solutions at the Virage booth, SL2453 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
According to Bradley Horowitz, chief technology officer and co-founder, Virage, Virage has extended its real-time content management capabilities and allows them to be leveraged within enterprise information portals. "With IDOL, Virage provides the infrastructure for capturing, feeding and delivering rich media through the enterprise," said Horowitz. "These next generation solutions allow organizations and governments to incorporate rich media assets into their work process and operations easier and more efficiently.",
VS Archive, a software solution used by enterprises to store, categorize, manage, retrieve and distribute video, audio and other rich media content, includes new features such as advanced conceptual retrieval and automated hypertext linking to enterprise information found in more than 300 different data types. Virage allows users to type in natural language for what they are looking for and VS Archive delivers the exact video file, with links to relevant printed materials and additional similar video or audio files.
VS News Monitoring is a real-time monitoring and content management solution used by enterprises and government agencies such as the U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, Center for Disease Control, to automatically track content for time sensitive, strategically significant events. New features within VS News Monitoring include real-time data access, advanced concept-based retrieval. Concept-based retrieval is especially important for monitoring and searching news feeds in foreign languages, because users may work in second languages or rely on transcriptions that can contain misspelled words. With IDOL, VS News Monitoring not only proactively alerts users to broadcast news but also delivers related internal content as well as information from Web sites.
VS Webcasting is an enterprise software solution that simplifies and streamlines the entire workflow for producing live Webcast events and on-demand or re-broadcast presentations for large audiences. The next generation of VS Webcasting contains optimized search and automated hypertext linking, which make it easier for employees to navigate through Webcasts after they have occurred and tune to the exact part that they need while being presented automatically with relevant materials.
