LIT Group, Inc. Selects Autonomy to Automate Litigation Information Management

Autonomy's Intelligent Infrastructure Technology Enables Collection and Categorization of Critical Data, Regardless of Language Content

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - February 18, 2004 - Autonomy Corporation plc (Nasdaq: AUTN; LSE: AU.), a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced that LIT Group, Inc, a global leader in litigation support has selected Autonomy's information infrastructure technology to automate the collection and categorization of electronic information that is vital to the support of litigation cases.

LIT Group purchased Autonomy's IDOL Server technology to aggregate clients' data and then automatically categorize and cluster that data based on patterns. This technology has shown to significantly decrease operational costs and increase performance of those clients engaged in discovery. By eliminating the need to manually review data, LIT Group will be able to scale the services it offers clients.

LIT Group is a Litigation Information Management company that specializes in effective and efficient information management through creative consultation and effective solutions. Law firms and corporate legal departments nationwide depend on LIT Group for the latest information management strategies to help manage and present their cases effectively.

"Autonomy makes the discovery and classification of information significantly more intelligent, providing our clients with a competitive advantage in developing case strategy," said Steven S. McNew, chief operating officer for LIT Group, Inc. "For example, LIT Group can, through the application of Autonomy's technology, provide clients with the ability to process not only electronic text documents and e-mails, but Web pages, voicemail and video as well, efficiently and effectively. Since analysts estimate that this type of unstructured information is doubling in quantity every three months, this is a powerful value proposition."

"Also of significant importance is that Autonomy's technology is completely language independent," added McNew. "This is incredibly valuable for clients of LIT Group since it is critical for global companies today to be able to provide the right information to the right people, regardless of the language the content is represented in. Autonomy's software supports over 65 languages, including English, German, French, Italian, Chinese and Japanese. This technology provides tremendous benefit to those companies and their outside counsel."

"One of the most complex and time-intensive processes when preparing a legal case is finding and aggregating information from volumes of data stored in multiple formats," said Stouffer Egan, chief executive officer, Autonomy U.S. "Autonomy automates that process in a way that allows LIT Group to sift through a large amount of information quickly, thereby reducing the time necessary to assemble and retrieve information relevant to each client's case."

Autonomy's unique Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) integrates unstructured, semi-structured and structured information from multiple repositories through an understanding of their content. Autonomy grants enterprises the flexibility to use advanced information retrieval or legacy-based approaches. At the heart of Autonomy's software is its ability to process text, voice and video, and identify and rank the main concepts within them. It then automatically categorizes, links, summarizes, personalizes and delivers that information. Autonomy's technology also drives collaboration across the enterprise and enables organizations to effectively leverage expertise. Autonomy's infrastructure technology is used to automate operations within enterprise information portals, customer relationship management, knowledge management, business intelligence and e-business applications, among others.
