Daticon Selects Autonomy Technology to Automate Information for Litigation Support
Autonomy's Intelligent Information Retrieval Speeds Evidence Gathering
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - February 2, 2004 - Autonomy Corporation plc (Nasdaq: AUTN; LSE: AU.), a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced that Daticon, a leading provider of document management and litigation support services, has selected Autonomy's information infrastructure technology to automate the aggregation, classification and delivery of litigation documents. Autonomy's technology was chosen over legacy information retrieval software for its scalability and automation.
Daticon offers a full portfolio of document management services, including electronic data discovery, image scanning, coding-indexing, technology sourcing and Internet Repository services. Daticon's litigation support products and services are used by more than 300 clients, including Fortune 100 enterprises and law offices, to convert millions of pages of electronic documents - such as email, memos, letters and presentations and other evidence - into searchable, image-enabled databases.
Using Autonomy's technology, Daticon will automatically discover, process and index this critical data, thereby reducing the time necessary to assemble and retrieve information relevant to clients' cases.
"Speed is a vital component to the discovery process," said Carl Keil, chief executive officer, Daticon. "Our clients come to us because they cannot afford to comb through huge amounts of data to discover and combine key facts when building or defending a case. After a thorough review, we selected Autonomy because their technology provided a level of speed and thoroughness that was unmatched."
"Finding relevant legal data can prove to be a costly exercise due to the overwhelming amount of unstructured information in organizations today," said Stouffer Egan, chief executive officer, Autonomy U.S. "Whether this information is found in emails, text documents, Web pages or even voice mails, Autonomy's advanced information infrastructure technology enables organizations like Daticon to automatically process it more efficiently and ultimately use it to their best advantage."
Autonomy's unique Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) integrates unstructured, semi-structured and structured information from multiple repositories through an understanding of their content. Autonomy grants enterprises the flexibility to use advanced information retrieval or legacy-based approaches. At the heart of Autonomy's software is its ability to process text, voice and video, and identify and rank the main concepts within them. It then automatically categorizes, links, summarizes, personalizes and delivers that information. Autonomy's technology also drives collaboration across the enterprise and enables organizations to effectively leverage expertise. Autonomy's infrastructure technology is used to automate operations within enterprise information portals, customer relationship management, knowledge management, business intelligence and e-business applications, among others.
