FSP Selects Cardiff To Manage Forms For National School Lunch Program
Process automation and improved data accuracy means better allocation of food for students, less burden on teachers and administrators, and a more cost-effective operation for schools
San Diego, CA - 2004-01-27 - Cardiff Software Inc., a leading global provider of document capture and eForm solutions for the enterprise, today announced that FSP, a not-for-profit corporation serving nutritious meals to community-schools, has selected Cardiff Teleform® to automate its data and document capture processes. FSP is a large participant in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and receives cash subsidies and donated commodities from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) for a percentage of the meals it serves. In return, it must serve lunches that meet Federal requirements and offer free or reduced price lunches to eligible children.
In order to meet the regulations and guidelines of the National School Lunch Program, FSP is required to meet Federal nutrition requirements and recommended Dietary Guidelines, ensuring that the proper components of a healthy meal are served to the student through strict reporting and calculations at the Point of Service. To maximize efficiencies, FSP selected Cardiff TELEform® to automate the meal ordering process for 21,000 unique meal order forms received per month. By implementing an automated solution, FSP can now manage a seamless transaction from the student's order to meal delivery to reporting, reducing costs, increasing productivity and improving service levels. With the automated system, teachers will no longer be required to administer the program, therefore ensuring a better lunch for the kids.

The TELEform solution seamlessly integrates with the FSP's IBM AS400 custom database to automatically capture, process and verify student data from multiple paper and digital sources. For example, the integration of the two systems will allow data from student meal forms to be transferred directly into the order tabulation program. Data from the student database will be used to pre-populate forms with a student's profile information, first name, due date, meal price, and other required information. The automation of the meal order process will eliminate manual data entry and verification requirements, allowing the organization to increase employee productivity, lower data entry costs and improve the quality of their data.
