AUTONOMY WINS PRODUCT OF THE YEAR
CEN takes 'blue riband' award at Information Management awards 2003
December 8th, 2003 - Autonomy Corporation plc (Nasdaq: AUTN; LSE: AU), a leading provider of infrastructure software for the enterprise, is proud to announce that its Collaboration and Expertise Networks (CEN) product was last night recognised as 'Product of the Year' at the prestigious UK Information Management 2003 awards.
Now in their 8th Year, the Information Management awards are the premier industry recognition of excellence and innovation in the management of business information and the hotly contested 'Product of the Year' category is the event's headline award.
Autonomy's Collaboration and Expertise Networks - CEN, leads the way in delivering a powerful infrastructure solution to automatically capture, visualize and effectively manage cohesive communities. Until now, organizations have deployed legacy black-box solutions that heavily relied on people describing their areas of interest using either a list of predefined keywords or through the filling out of forms. However, these technologies ignored the fact that people have multiple interests that constantly change. Moreover, the fact that this approach incurred significant manual intervention also led to users not bothering to register their interests, as form filling was too generalized and would soon be out of date.
CEN provides an automated solution that understands the inherent multifaceted interests of every individual. Autonomy IDOL renders these previous approaches obsolete because CEN employs a fundamentally different and unique combination of technologies to enable computers to form a contextual understanding of people's interests and on-going interaction with any type of information, regardless of format, location or device.
"The Information Management awards are seen as the Oscars of the industry, and we are very proud to be recognised in the blue-riband 'Product of the Year' category", said Mike Lynch, Founder & CEO of Autonomy. "CEN is just one of the many product innovations we have introduced as a result of our significant and continuing investment in research and development. This award is a recognition of its innovative approach to solving one of the most intractable issues inherent in the enterprise, that of employee collaboration."
