General Dynamics Selects Virage Webcasting For Employee Education And Communication Programs
SAN MATEO, Calif. - December 3, 2003 - Virage, Inc., a wholly owned division of Autonomy Corp. (Nasdaq: AUTN; LSE: AU) and a leading provider of rich media communication and content management software, today announced that General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), is using Virage VS WebcastingÔ software to deliver video webcasts to thousands of employees.
The General Dynamics unit chose the Virage webcasting software as part of an upgrade to its communications infrastructure aimed at streaming educational and corporate communications information to employees worldwide. "Because of the nature of our business, we required a reliable webcasting solution that would ensure that our content is secure," said Wade Schott, chief technology officer. "The Virage solution is providing great scalability and advanced content security for large enterprise events."
General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems is utilizing VS Webcasting to deliver high-quality video- and audio-based presentations for educational product training and corporate communications, such as executive speeches and employee news. With this system in place, employees around the world can access corporate webcasts anytime, anywhere from their desktops. With the Virage system, employees are able to search through hours of video by keyword to access content related to a specific product or topic of interest.
VS Webcasting is the first enterprise software solution that simplifies and streamlines the entire workflow for producing live Webcast events and on-demand or re-broadcast presentations for large audiences. An alternative to legacy satellite-based systems or expensive webcasting service providers, the VS Webcasting solution makes it easy for organizations to deliver high-quality video- and audio-based presentations. From event scheduling and preparation to real-time Webcast operations to detailed event reporting, this solution provides powerful Web-based tools that make it easy to assemble and manage interactive Webcasts. VS Webcasting combines streaming audio and video with slides, digital documents, software demonstrations, Web pages and other online media. The latest version of VS Webcasting includes proprietary new ScreenCast™ technology from Virage which enables presenters to share and demonstrate Web pages, Excel® spreadsheets, Visio® diagrams, or any other document or application that can be displayed on a computer desktop.
