Verity Announces Enhanced Version of KeyView Software Development Kits
Comprehensive Suite of Export, Viewing and Filtering Technologies Lets Enterprise Applications Interact with Wide Range of Content in Multiple File Formats and Languages
SUNNYVALE, Calif - 2003-11-10 - Verity Inc. (NASDAQ: VRTY), a leading provider of enterprise software that helps organizations maximize the return on their intellectual capital investment, today announced the new release of its Verity® KeyView Software Development Kits (SDKs) targeted for integration with global enterprise applications. The SDKs provide users seamless access to a wide range of intellectual capital in 295 file formats and more than 70 languages.
The Verity KeyView Software Development Kits consist of:
• Verity KeyView Export SDK, that dynamically converts multiple file formats into valid XML or Web-ready HTML format;
• Verity KeyView Viewing SDK, which allows users to view and print documents, without installing the native applications; and,
• Verity KeyView Filter SDK, which permits applications to extract text and metadata from documents in various formats for use in searching, indexing and document management systems.

Verity KeyView SDKs can be quickly and easily integrated into enterprise applications, because each supports a range of programming environments, such as C, Java and Com; as well as the Unicode character set standard. The release also provides support for the latest versions of the most widely used operating systems, including: Linux, UnixTM and Windows Server 2003. Integrating the Verity KeyView SDKs can result in reduced development costs, faster time-to-market, and higher overall quality for ISVs.

Verity KeyView Export SDK - Unlock a Multitude of File Formats
Building and maintaining applications that can interact with hundreds of file formats can be complex and costly for organizations. Verity KeyView Export SDK is the solution to this business problem, as it permits documents to be widely accessible and usable with its ability to dynamically convert the most popular file formats into Web-ready HTML or valid XML format.
By applying an XML vocabulary to the data structures in documents, KeyView Export makes it possible to index and search content and metadata in context. The XML output is easily integrated into any modern application. Verity KeyView Export can also automatically convert documents to fully compliant HTML, so users can view almost any content in their Web browsers. Verity KeyView Viewing SDK - View Files from Anywhere
Verity KeyView Viewing SDK lets developers add WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) capabilities to their applications for viewing and printing of all popular word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, graphic, multimedia, compression and encoding formats. KeyView Viewing SDK allows end-users to view and print multiple file formats, without requiring end-users to license and install multiple native applications associated with the files types, resulting in lower associated IT costs. For example, a researcher can view and print a relevant research document in WordPerfect, without having the WordPerfectâ Office application in her system.
Verity KeyView Filter SDK - Extract Content and Metadata on Multiple Platforms
The Verity KeyView Filter SDK lets applications filter and extract text from multiple formats on a wide variety of platforms. KeyView Filter automatically recognizes up to 295 file types and applies the correct filter without relying on filename extensions. As a result, applications can interact with information from different sources and in various formats. For proprietary file formats not directly supported, the KeyView Filter SDK also provides customers the flexibility to quickly build custom filters to meet their unique business requirements. The SDK's threadsafe process design eliminates the need to queue multiple documents for sequential filtering, allowing multiple documents to be filtered simultaneously.
