New Version of Cardiff LiquidOffice™ Enables Sophisticated Role-Based Routing, Structured Workflow and Advanced Process Monitoring of eForms

LiquidOffice v3.0 Enables Organizations to Automate All Forms Driven Process in a Format-Agnostic System that Supports PDF, HTML, Xforms and InfoPath

Gartner Symposium/ITxpo, Orlando, FL. - 2003-10-21 - Cardiff Software Inc., a leading global provider of document capture and eForm solutions for the enterprise, today announced LiquidOffice version 3.0, the next generation of the company's eForm process automation solution from Gartner Symposium/ITxpo 2003. LiquidOffice 3.0 smart enables the enterprise by streamlining the routing of forms and knowledge via ad hoc or structured workflow, advanced process monitoring and reporting, reducing time spent completing tasks and delivering real value to the organization. Immediate support for Microsoft InfoPath provides organizations the ability to support all the most popular eForm formats used - inside and outside the organization.

As a part of Cardiff's integrated business process automation (BPA) suite that includes LiquidCapture™ and TELEform®, Cardiff LiquidOffice 3.0 cultivates collaboration in a connected central server Web environment, ensuring visibility, consistency, and security of information and forms as they travel throughout the organization. By replacing manual paper processes with online forms and related business processes, organizations are seeing immediate impact in terms of timesavings, lower costs and higher value interaction with customers, resulting in an increase in overall business performance.

"LiquidOffice enables us to complete form-based business processes more efficiently," said Jamie Mangrum, Chief of the Office of Technology Resources, for the Department of General Services for the State of California. "As the central form repository for the entire State of California, we manage thousands of forms daily that need to be routed and approved quickly. In piloting LiquidOffice 3.0 we have seen significant benefit in the parallel routing and process monitoring capabilities, something we anticipate to create noticeable cost savings."

LiquidOffice 3.0 Automates Workflow Process and Empowers User Adoption with Easily Defined Roles

Currently, 99 percent of all tasks in an organization rely on the individual user to understand where a form must go next to complete the business process. LiquidOffice 3.0 includes a number of new features designed to support a more efficient form-based business process. With role-based routing and structured workflow, organizations no longer need to rely on individuals to determine the form approval process. By automating the workflow cycle for forms, and assigning role-based routing, LiquidOffice removes human error and speeds workflow resulting in time and costs savings. Forms are viewed and managed based on pre-determined roles, making it clear which step in the form process the business user can impact.

In addition, the new easy-to-use interface of LiquidOffice speeds user adoption. Companies can choose to use the LiquidOffice interface which includes similar features found in an email desktop application like an Inbox and Sent Items folder or customize the LiquidOffice Web interface to work as an embedded application within a portal environment, making the business user's adjustment to LiquidOffice virtually seamless. Enhanced navigation in the form repository makes it easier for business users to determine the appropriate form to use. The Form Design Expression Builder within LiquidOffice includes both simple and advanced interfaces that can enable non-technical users to build simple and complex rules and validations into a form without writing script.

"Cardiff has established a persuasive track record of delivering substantial, measurable value as customers replace manual paper processes with online forms and related business processes," said Dennis Clerke, president and CEO of Cardiff Software. "LiquidOffice delivers the most comprehensive capabilities for workflow and enhanced role-based management that provides greater flexibility to accommodate changing roles in an organization and allows for unique management of corporate-specific tasks. The effect is a more efficient enterprise that can provide higher-level service at a lower overall cost to its customers."

Introducing LiquidOffice Advanced Process Manager

Advanced Process Manager adds structured workflow to the business process. It allows organizations to design and simulate the process via the LiquidOffice Process Designer and then publish and activate through the LiquidOffice Forms Server. Advanced Process Manager can automate more complex processes and create additional efficiencies within the organization by automating parallel routing and escalation and exception handling. This results in increased business performance by combining human process automation and integration with other enterprise systems with an optimized pre-determined workflow.

"The complex nature of most form-based business processes requires greater collaboration across the organization," said Mark Gilbert, research director at Gartner. "Form-based processes can not be held up on a single users desktop. In order to compete at the highest level organizations must automate and complete tasks quickly. One way to accomplish this is to leverage work-flow for parallel routing and easier monitoring of forms as they travel through the organization."

Open Standards and form-agnostic support enables business processes enterprise-wide

Built on an open standards architecture and leveraging custom connect agents, LiquidOffice easily empowers the enterprise by utilizing existing technology infrastructures and applying, indexing, and augmenting broad enterprise data. The format-agnostic approach supports PDF, HTML and now Microsoft InfoPath 2003. (For more information on LiquidOffice support for Microsoft InfoPath please see the announcement made October 21, 2003 "Cardiff LiquidOffice Partners with Microsoft to Enable Routing and Tracking of Forms for Microsoft Office InfoPath 2003.")

As the only format-agnostic vendor, Cardiff enables its customers to easily manage internal and external form processes, empowering business users to work in their preferred format. LiquidOffice's open standards results in seamless throughput for a variety of business systems, including ERP, CRM, ECM, portals, transactional, and other Web-based tools driving significantly greater collaboration in form-based processes in every division of the organization.

"To truly enable enterprise-wide collaboration in form-based business processes, we need to provide open standard support for forms," said Bill Galusha, senior product marketing manager at Cardiff. "To leverage form-based information within content management, document management and backend systems, organizations must be able to publish forms to any of the major standards, Cardiff LiquidOffice enables this with out-of-the-box capabilities."
