Cardiff Releases LiquidCapture Web-Based Document Capture System

LiquidCapture 2003 fulfills cross-industry demand for thin client distributed capture solution that combines robust functionality with cost-effective pricing, implementation and maintenance

San Diego, CA - 2003-09-30 - Cardiff Software Inc., a leading global provider of document capture and eForm solutions for enterprise business process automation, today announced the immediate availability of LiquidCapture™ 2003. LiquidCapture is a Web-based document capture solution designed for large organizations that want to increase processing capabilities and lower costs by distributing processing resources across multiple departments or remote sites. By combining robust functionality and operational savings with a low fixed-pricing model, LiquidCapture is the most compelling and cost-effective solution in comparison to competing client-side and Web-based solutions.

LiquidCapture's proven technology for Web services, Web scanning and Web indexing accelerates the rate at which electronic and paper documents can be input and indexed for processing and review before being passed to existing document and content management systems. Integration with third-party applications, such as FileNet, Legato and Open Text, is achieved by using pre-built connect agents or by using LiquidCapture's SDK and flexible COM API interface to easily create custom connections to existing business applications.

Web Architecture Critical for Today's Processing Needs

Large organizations across a variety of industries, from financial services and healthcare to government and retail, rely on remotely located employees to generate documents that require review, indexing and attachment of supporting documentation. LiquidCapture streamlines this costly and time-intensive manual process by empowering remote knowledge workers to capture and index documents via any Web browser. A zero-client Web interface harnesses the productivity of distributed workers while maintaining the control made possible by centralized administration.

Julie Rahal, research analyst at IDC comments: "Distributed capture is a growing need across many industries, and a notable driver for IT investment. Organizations must place the control of information at the point of business and customer interaction. For implementations to succeed, enterprises and organizations must consider how that information can be indexed and accessed easily on current legacy systems from the desktop, as well as the server. Solutions that offer such value propositions will gain significant traction in the market."

Web-Based Capture Reduces Total Cost of Ownership

LiquidCapture's low total cost of ownership can be attributed to its Web-based architecture, which enables increased enterprise connectivity and reduces the implementation and maintenance costs common with client-side software solutions. Further cost savings result from the operational efficiencies achieved through LiquidCapture's ability to eliminate document mailing costs, ensure data integrity and increase responsiveness to customer and market needs.

"Information sharing is critical in today's real-time business environment, and LiquidCapture's comprehensive features and enterprise connectivity make it possible for organizations to take advantage of the resources and cost-savings made possible by distributed capture," said Scott McLaughlin, senior technical advisor at Optiform. "By requiring minimal IT deployment time and maintenance, LiquidCapture's Web-based distributed capture capabilities make it well suited for broad application in almost any industry. Furthermore, the savings in mailing costs alone can be reason enough for many companies to deploy LiquidCapture."

Additionally, unlike centralized document capture solutions, LiquidCapture is not based on a costly, per-page volume pricing model but rather a single, set price for all document throughput. LiquidCapture offers a compelling pricing structure for direct users seeking a cost-effective document capture solution, while its robust functionality and enterprise connectivity make it an attractive product offering for value added resellers.

Expanded Processing Capabilities Via TELEform and LiquidOffice Integration

Seamless integration with Cardiff TELEform® and Cardiff LiquidOffice™ establishes LiquidCapture as a valuable extension of Cardiff's respected suite of interactive document solutions. LiquidCapture integrates with TELEform to allow scanned and indexed images to be validated and processed via TELEform for best-of-breed forms processing. Today's modern enterprise is a broad mixture of paper, forms, and electronic documents - all accounted for by Cardiff's expanded suite of document capture and eForm solutions.

"As an incredibly powerful distributed capture solution that's also extremely easy to use, LiquidCapture is the perfect complement to our existing TELEform and LiquidOffice solutions," said Mark Seamans, CTO and vice president at Cardiff. "LiquidCapture effectively addresses a growing market demand for a collaborative enterprise solution that can streamline and expedite the scanning, indexing and distribution of documents from any number of remote locations."

LiquidCapture 2003 Feature Summary

• Web Scanning and Web Indexing - The LiquidCapture Web client operates via Web services, providing a fast, zero-administration, zero-maintenance solution for remote users.

• Email Alerts - Automated alerts can be triggered at any point in the document or batch process flow to provide users with status updates.

• Central Administration - A single administrator can set up and update configurations of all remote clients.

• Data Validation and Auto-fill - Connection to a central data repository enables automatic data validation and field look-ups.

• Graphical Workflow Builder - Intuitive, visual interface enables users to quickly and easily build and deploy workflow processes for documents and batches.

• Paper and "Soft" Document Support - Scanned, faxed and electronic "soft" documents (including non-image files) can be captured, viewed, indexed and stored.

• Security - Documents and batches are encrypted during transfer to and from the server, and batch profiles, document type, queues, and functionality can be restricted for each user.
