Major Pharmaceuticals Company Automates Its Order Fulfillment Process Via Dralasoft Workflow Software

For medical professionals charged with treating serious diseases such as cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, or hepatitis C, getting those lifelines delivered to them accurately and on time is no small matter.
World-class order fulfillment was the challenge facing eVentive, a leading Chicago-based technology consulting firm specializing in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems and processes. eVentive's client, one of the world's largest pharmaceutical companies and a major distributor of specialty medicines for chronic conditions, wanted to upgrade its order processing operation to better serve their healthcare clients while increasing productivity and reducing costs.
"The existing process was extensively manual, with over 100 employees manually entering data from orders faxed in by physician's offices and clinics," said Dana Bailey, Chief Operating Officer of eVentive. "Numerous forms, checks, and procedures had to be followed to facilitate the fulfillment of each order. What's more, there were very little, if any, key metrics or other management information available."
The pharmaceuticals company knew it needed a better system to support the strong growth it was experiencing. eVentive proposed an automated, direct data entry solution built around an eVentive-developed order management module. Additionally, eVentive incorporated fax automation technology that would digitize incoming fax orders and eliminate the need for manual data entry. To drive the system, the consulting firm recommended Dralasoft's Workflow(TM) Business Process Management (BPM) software.

Able to support Customer Relationship Management (CRM) processes as well as content management, e-commerce, expense approval, Sales Force Automation (SFA), and other tasks, Dralasoft Workflow supports XML and SOAP protocols for reliable exchange and storage of data.
"We seriously considered other BPM software, but most are standalone packages that don't integrate well. Dralasoft Workflow matched the technical environment and met the compatibility, ease of configuration, and cost constraints we were dealing with," Bailey said.
Currently in deployment, Dralasoft Workflow is the last piece in a solution that will convert the customer to a totally paperless order processing environment. "Based on our experience so far, we have no reason to believe Dralasoft Workflow won't work to expectations," Bailey states. "The integration has been as smooth as we had hoped, and our client has found the interface very easy to use."
With Dralasoft Workflow managing the system, eVentive and its customer anticipate an order processing environment as advanced and effective as the pharmaceuticals it supports. "Incoming faxes will be read using optical character recognition software, then 'intelligently queued' for processing," explains Bailey. "We expect error rates to go down significantly. And thanks to Dralasoft Workflow, our client will finally get the control it needs to increase operational performance and ultimately grow its distribution business."
