Independent Research Firm Names Autonomy Leader in Search Industry
Independent Analysts Note Autonomy's Strength Managing Unstructured Data in Future Of Enterprise Search Research Report
San Francisco, Calif., August 6, 2003-Autonomy Corporation plc (Nasdaq: AUTN; LSE: AU., Nasdaq Europe: AUTN), a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced that it was recognized by Forrester as a leading infrastructure technology provider for enterprise information management. The TechStrategy™ Research report, The Future of the Enterprise Search, evaluates the trends shaping the search market and the direction vendors must take to successfully meet enterprise needs. Autonomy is credited for its technological strengths and market presence in effectively managing unstructured and structured content.
According to Paul Sonderegger, senior analyst and author of the report, search will mature beyond helping people find what they're looking for to helping people understand what they've found. Autonomy's ability to use ontologies and database structures to improve search results earn it a spot in the 'Leaders' category.
Autonomy is also acknowledged in the study as one of the market leaders for its market presence, current strategy and offerings. The report analyzed search technology vendors on how well their products supported multiple types of users, structured and unstructured content and its ability to handle a variety of topics. The leaders in the research were identified as those companies which have the ability to pull together three of the critical search elements; structure manipulation, ontologies and integration with other applications.
"Autonomy's unique Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) provides the infrastructure technology that allows us to continue as a leader in enterprise information management, and we are excited that Forrester has once again recognized our contributions to the industry," said Mike Lynch, CEO and co-founder of Autonomy. "Using advanced pattern-recognition and Bayesian inference within our automated infrastructure will help Autonomy continue as the leader in enterprise information management."
Forrester predicts market consolidation over the next two years as vendors build or acquire technologies that enable them to handle as much content and as many user types as possible. To meet the growing market demand, Autonomy has recently launched two new divisions providing enterprise solutions for regulatory compliance and litigation/legal discovery and call center/CRM support.
Building on Autonomy's IDOL, Aungate, offers the world's first automated solution providing real-time analysis of telephone calls, emails and instant messages for enterprise compliance and litigation support. Audentify helps call centers understand the content and context of telephone conversations as well as other customer communications such as email messages to increase the quality of customer interaction, reduce call handling times, monitor agent performance, analyze call handling trends and enable all calls and interactions to be recorded and made instantly searchable. Additionally, Autonomy has enhanced the analytics and reporting features in solution offerings as well as new offering visualization and clustering analysis tools enabling users to view and organize information in multiple ways.
Autonomy's unique Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) integrates unstructured, semi-structured and structured information from multiple repositories through an understanding of their content. Autonomy grants enterprises the flexibility to use advanced information retrieval or legacy-based approaches. At the heart of Autonomy's software is its ability to process text, voice and video and identify and rank the main concepts within them. It then automatically categorizes, links, summarizes, personalizes and delivers that information. Autonomy's technology also drives collaboration across the enterprise and enables organizations to effectively leverage expertise. Autonomy's infrastructure technology is used to automate operations within enterprise information portals, customer relationship management, knowledge management, business intelligence and e-business applications, among others.
