Dralasoft Workflow BPM Software Earns Company "Visionary" Placement In Major Industry Research Study

Magic Quadrant Research Lists Dralasoft as a "Visionary"; Product Benefits from Broad Applicability, Market-Directed Feature Set

WESTMINSTER, CO - 2003-07-23 - Dralasoft, Inc., a leading innovator of Java™ technology for e-business and enterprise application infrastructure, announced today that its core Business Process Management software, Dralasoft Workflow, has earned the company placement in the "Visionary" quadrant in a major BPM product study published last month by industry research firm Gartner, Inc.

Gartner's study, "Magic Quadrant for Pure-Play BPM, 2Q03", is a qualitative evaluation of various application-independent business process management vendors. The report, according to its introduction, is a "‘snapshot' of the pure-play BPM market" that "identifies vendors active in this space and characterizes their roles in the industry."

"Dralasoft is pleased to have its technology affirmed in the marketplace. This respected study will assist the decisions of many enterprises as they weigh the benefits of various Business Process Management solutions," said Richard Rogers, Vice President of Business Operations for Dralasoft, Inc. "We believe Dralasoft Workflow has achieved its strong acceptance due to its responsiveness to customer needs in an increasing number of industry verticals."

Comprehensive Workflow Management

In the past, Gartner has affirmed the value of Business Process Management as a way for businesses to add value while saving both money and time. "Business process management (BPM) has proved to be valuable in defining effective business processes for everything from a single department to an entire enterprise and its associated value networks. This function can range from the basic automation of a single manual process (such as accounts payable) to a line of business (LOB) or an overall business (such as policy underwriting)." Gartner, Inc., "A BPM Creating Clarity in a Confusing Market", J. Sinur and T. Bell, May 29, 2003.

Unlike its niche competitors, Dralasoft Workflow is a comprehensive, enterprise-class solution that leverages the full value of Java and XML to reduce complexity and costs. Comprised of three components—Dralasoft Workflow Engine, Dralasoft Workflow Studio, and Dralasoft Workflow Manager, Dralasoft Workflow provides everything needed to design, deploy, and manage business processes in Java environments for embedded and IT infrastructures.

Dralasoft Workflow Engine is the core element of the Dralasoft Workflow system. A highly optimized, scalable runtime Java component, Dralasoft Workflow Engine orchestrates processes using advanced features including caching, thread-pooling, persistence, clustering, load balancing, and notification. Dralasoft Workflow Studio, the solution's visual design tool, enables the modeling of complex workflows and sub-workflows with drag-and-drop simplicity. Dralasoft Workflow Manager provides monitoring and management services to support mission-critical deployments, offering complete control and insight into the activity of workflows both individually and as a group.

Dralasoft products are simple, high performance, and cost-effective solutions to software integration based on standards such as Java, XML, SOAP, LDAP, HTTP, and JDBC.

Evaluation Criteria

In "Magic Quadrant for Pure-Play Business Process Management", Gartner Inc. evaluated the products of 50 vendors according to two major classes of criteria—Ability to Execute and Completeness of Vision. Ability to Execute is determined by measuring the vendor's technical expertise, technology assets, and financial and marketing resources. Completeness of Vision, a long-range metric, includes analysis and assessment of the vendor's current product features and its understanding of technical and marketing issues, as well as its ability to innovate, differentiate its products, and grow its business.

According to Gartner's definition, "Visionaries", the lower right quadrant, represent vendors who "have a clear vision of market direction and are focused on preparing for that, but they can still improve in terms of optimizing service delivery."

The Magic Quadrant is Gartner, Inc.'s opinion and is an analytical representation of a marketplace at and for a specific time period. It measures vendors against Gartner defined criteria for a marketplace. The positioning of vendors within a Magic Quadrant is based on the complex interplay of many factors. Gartner does not advise enterprises to select only those firms in the "Leaders" quadrant. In some situations, firms in the Visionary, Challenger, or Niche Player quadrants may be the right matches for an enterprise's requirements. Well-informed vendor selection decisions should rely on more than a Magic Quadrant.
