Cardiff Honors Stratford District Council With Government Application of the Year Award

Brentford, England - 2003-07-07 - Cardiff Software Ltd., a leading global provider of business process-automation solutions, today announced that Stratford District Council has been awarded the Cardiff Government Application of the Year Award for 2003. The award was presented to Stratford in recognition of its use of the Cardiff LiquidOffice™ eForm automation system to improve citizen accessibility to government services while complying with government interoperability mandates as defined by the e-Government Interoperability Framework (e-Gif) initiative.

Stratford District Council is long recognised as an innovative council with an excellent track record in delivering service improvements through the careful application of new technology. This award further establishes Stratford's credentials as a benchmark authority in its push towards full electronic service delivery by 2005.

With LiquidOffice, Stratford's citizenry can now fill in forms online directly from their desktop PC, which are then routed straight into Stratford's administrative system. This eForm technology provides the following:

• Elimination of lost, misplaced or misfiled documents - Administrators at Stratford now have electronic copies of all the information and documents they need to process housing and council tax benefit forms without having to look elsewhere.

• Increase in accountability to citizens - LiquidOffice automates the decision process based on specific pieces of data and evidence received and alerts administrators when tasks are not completed within a given timescale. This automation has enabled forms to be processed faster and more efficiently.

• Improved responsiveness to citizens - By automating the generation of response documents such as letters and automatically updating back office systems, Stratford's citizenry benefit from faster service and more accurate information.

Receiving this award, Dave Webb, head of the Stratford-on-Avon eGov committee responsible for eForms, comments, "This award solidifies Stratford's position as one of the UK's foremost adopters of technologies that improve services to the citizenry and meets the demands of the e-Gif mandates. The processing of renewals for housing and council tax benefit claims was a time consuming, labour-intensive and costly process. It was important for us to find a way to automate this business process. The fact that our solution to this problem has been recognised as a leading approach is extremely rewarding."

On presentation of the award, Tim Dubes, vice president, sales and marketing with Cardiff, said, "While many local authorities had very strong applications, Stratford District Council's stood out as a example of how eForm technology can be utilized to improve customer service and the flow of information to citizens while also reducing costs and increasing employee efficiency. I am pleased to award the "Cardiff Government Application of the Year 2003" to Stratford District Council."
