Autonomy Offers Enhanced Analytics for Improved Information Management and Administration
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - June 2, 2003 - Autonomy Corporation plc (Nasdaq: AUTN; LSE: AU., Nasdaq Europe: AUTN), a leading provider of infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced the availability of the new version of Autonomy Distributed Services Handler (DiSH), the crucial maintenance, administration and control component which connects Autonomy's Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) and all Autonomy services. Autonomy's DiSH version 4.0 offers additional robust tools for workflow metrics and administrative tools for enhanced analytic capability.
DiSH, which serves as the middle layer to unify Autonomy with other enterprise applications, enables administrators to track information as it comes into the Autonomy system. It also tracks information as it is automatically indexed, tagged, categorized, routed, and/or delivered to end users. Administrators can run reports to determine how many queries are being made, what information is being utilized, which queries are not returning results as well as gain administrative information such as when a server is down, what applications are being crawled for indexing, and performance metrics of Autonomy's individual functions. Because DiSH allows administrators to remotely control and analyze individual or multiple functions simultaneously, it provides visibility into all aspects of the content indexing and automated workflow through the system.
"Autonomy is committed to helping our customers realize measurable results from their technology investments through increased visibility into performance metrics," said Richard Gaunt, chief technology officer and co-founder, Autonomy. "Because DiSH 4.0 provides the most advanced tools to assess all aspects of how users interact with a system, it is invaluable in calculating and improving business processes."
Analytics are particularly useful for calculating and therefore improving ROI. DiSH provides feedback on which parts of the data set are most and least useful, which audiences are using that data most frequently, how long they spend on site and how successful their queries are. This feature can help administrators reduce costs by helping identify which data sources are used most frequently, such as newsfeeds or financial information, and eliminating those which are redundant or not cost-effective. In addition to DiSH automated services, users can offer their explicit feedback about how useful they find information and where users frequently attempt to find information to help administrators locate any gaps in the data set.
Autonomy's unique Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) integrates unstructured, semi-structured and structured information from multiple repositories through an understanding of their content. Autonomy grants enterprises the flexibility to use advanced information retrieval or legacy-based approaches. At the heart of Autonomy's software is its ability to process text, voice and video and identify and rank the main concepts within them. It then automatically categorizes, links, summarizes, personalizes and delivers that information. Autonomy's technology also drives collaboration across the enterprise and enables organizations to effectively leverage expertise. Autonomy's infrastructure technology is used to automate operations within enterprise information portals, customer relationship management, knowledge management, business intelligence and e-business applications, among others.
