Novell Embeds Autonomy's Technology within its Novell exteNd Director Portal Server for Advanced Information Retrieval and Delivery Capabilities
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - May 19, 2003--Autonomy Corporation plc (Nasdaq: AUTND; LSE: AU., Nasdaq Europe: AUTN), a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced an OEM relationship with Novell, a leading provider of information solutions. Through this agreement, Autonomy's technology will be embedded in Novell's exteNd Director portal product to provide customers with advanced information retrieval and delivery capabilities.
Autonomy's technology will be embedded in Novell exteNd Director, an interaction and portal server that enables IT organizations to rapidly deliver and easily maintain rich, personalized Web applications. Autonomy enhances Novell exteNd Director with its ability to analyze and rank concepts within unstructured information within its content management system. With the addition of Autonomy's technology in Novell exteNd Director, documents and Web pages in the content management systems can be categorized, linked and delivered wherever it is needed to provide customers, partners and employees with the relevant and up-to-date information they need to be successful.
"By integrating Autonomy into Novell exteNd Director, our customers can find the information they need without sifting through irrelevant content because it will automatically be retrieved and delivered, facilitating collaboration and information sharing," said Frank Auger, vice president of product management for Novell's Web application development products.

Autonomy's unique Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) integrates unstructured, semi-structured and structured information from multiple repositories through an understanding of their content. Autonomy grants enterprises the flexibility to use advanced information retrieval or legacy-based approaches. At the heart of Autonomy's software is its ability to process text, voice and video and identify and rank the main concepts within them. It then automatically categorizes, links, summarizes, personalizes and delivers that information.
