Cardiff TELEform® MEDIclaim Option Implemented by Pinnacol Assurance to Automate Processing of Workers' Compensation Bills
Pinnacol Assurance expects MEDIclaim to reduce bill-processing time by 30%
San Diego, CA - 2003-04-29 - Cardiff Software Inc., a leading global provider of business process-automation solutions, today announced that its TELEform® MEDIclaim Option has been selected by Pinnacol Assurance to streamline the submission and processing of more than 35,000 workers' compensation bills received monthly. As Colorado's leading provider of workers' compensation insurance, Pinnacol Assurance enjoys a 48 percent market share that consists of more than 56,000 policyholders in Colorado.
Prior to implementing an automated system, Pinnacol Assurance manually processed paper claims and hand-keyed data into its proprietary database for adjudication and payment. By employing MEDIclaim's sophisticated process-automation features, Pinnacol Assurance is now able to convert its existing workers' compensation bills into an electronic format, which is expected to reduce bill payment processing time by 30 percent.
"By automating our manual processes with MEDIclaim, Pinnacol Assurance is able to drastically reduce processing and data entry costs," said Rob Norris, CIO at Pinnacol Assurance. "The real value, however, is in improving access to medical records for our claim representatives and nurse case managers, which enables them to better serve our customers and their injured workers."
In addition to automating the data entry process, Pinnacol Assurance will be able to transfer form data directly into its existing content management system. Cardiff's open systems approach makes this integration possible and will enable Pinnacol Assurance to significantly reduce the costs associated with archiving data and the production, storage and retrieval of paper forms.
Once the data is indexed, the adjudicators can easily access the electronic record, bill, attachments and procedure codes and apply fee schedules through their virtual private network from any location. By converting the data into an electronic format, the claims representative is now able to efficiently track bills and attachments, as well as streamline communication with all the different parties to a claim.
"Using MEDIclaim to efficiently process workers' compensation bills, Pinnacol Assurance will be able to significantly improve customer service through rapid data processing, increased throughput and capacity, and improved accuracy and quality," said Dan Shirra, Cardiff's vice president of worldwide marketing.
