Newest Verity Ultraseek Enterprise Search Software Now Available in Japan

Fully Localized Release Offers Improved Relevancy and Context for More Successful Searches

TOKYO, Japan and SUNNYVALE, Calif - 2003-04-28 - The newest version of Verity® Ultraseek enterprise search software, release 5.0.4J, is now available in the Japanese market, Verity, Inc. (NASDAQ: VRTY), a leading provider of enterprise software that helps organizations maximize the return on their intellectual capital investment, today announced.

Verity Ultraseek 5.0.4J enables users to find and identify relevant content with greater ease and success. The product also provides system administrators with intuitive and streamlined server management while offering greater scalability than previous versions. Marketed as Inktomi Enterprise Search (IES) before the software was acquired by Verity and rebranded Verity Ultraseek, the enhancements further strengthen the award-winning technology.

"Version 5.0.4J represents more than an improvement in the already-robust capabilities of Verity Ultraseek. It serves as a tangible commitment by Verity to the Japanese market to support and advance the Verity Ultraseek capabilities," said Hugo Sluimer, Verity's senior vice president of EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) and Asia-Pacific operations. "This software will better allow organizations to find, organize and leverage their intellectual capital to gain competitive advantage."

Highlights of the new Verity Ultraseek release include:

Improved Relevance and Query Features -

Verity Ultraseek 5.0.4J offers greatly improved relevance for multiple word queries. In addition, in cases where queries return no results, the software now suggests less restrictive alternate queries to better ensure searching success.

Quick Summaries -

Search results contain document descriptions that are dynamically created from relevant passages in the document text with the user's query term highlighted. Users are able to more quickly identify the information they want since the query term is displayed in the context of the document.

Administration User Interface (UI) Enhancements -

This version of Verity Ultraseek features a new streamlined Japanese UI that allows for more intuitive administration and management of the software.

Enhanced Security -

Enhanced security is also offered, such as more password options and the ability to block IP addresses for multiple failed login attempts.
