Autonomy Announces Both Strategic Partnership with China's Ccid Data Co., and First Joint Customer in China
CAMBRIDGE, UK. and LONDON - April 10, 2003 - China's Centre for Information Industry Development (CCID Data Co.), China's leading information management company, today announced it has formed an alliance with Autonomy (NASDAQ: AUTN; LSE: AU.; NASDAQ Europe: AUTN), a global leader in infrastructure technology for the enterprise. This alliance will draw on the complementary expertise of both companies to deliver Autonomy solutions to customers throughout China and help clients realize greater business value and reduce costs of manually processing information through more effective and intelligent information management and delivery. This new partnership is pleased to announce China Putian, the No.1 IT manufacturer in China since 2000, as its first customer.
As organizations have become increasingly dependent on the successful management of mountains of information generated from unstructured sources such as e-mails, meetings and miscellaneous documents, the disparate forms, formats, languages, subjects and quantities in which the information is available can create significant barriers to achieving business efficiencies and goals. This is no less true in China, where the burgeoning economy has been estimated to drive e-business demands from today's $500m to over $23bn in the next 36 months, more than anywhere else in the world. In particular, the traditionally manual tasks associated with managing and processing such information are often time consuming, inconsistent and inaccurate.
Mr.Luo Wen, CEO of CCID Data, also Vice President of CCID, said: "Autonomy has the most advanced technology that enables users to scientifically manage unstructured and semi-structured information. We strongly believe that through the cooperation, we will bring more suitable solutions for different Chinese industries, and provide effective information management applications and services for both Chinese government and enterprise users. It's our great honour to be in partnership with Autonomy".
Autonomy is providing to CCID Data its world-renowned Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) to automate the manual processes of aggregation, categorization, hyperlinking, summarization, retrieval and delivery of unstructured information. Based on the powerful resource platform of the Electronic Information Center of Ministry of Information Industry, CCID Data provides the governmental platform and extensive industrial data channels throughout China. CCID Data's clients include finance, telecom, electronics, energy, transportation, media, consulting, scientific, research and education and the government at all levels.
"CCID Data is the No1 platform in information content, the No1 expert in information management, and the No1 brand name in China. Autonomy and CCI Data. provide China with an excellent framework for unlocking the business value of information and we are proud for Autonomy, the World's No1 automated infrastructure, to be partnering with CCID," said Mike Lynch, Founder and CEO, Autonomy.
Autonomy's unique Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) integrates unstructured, semi-structured and structured information from multiple repositories through an understanding of their content. Autonomy grants enterprises the flexibility to use advanced information retrieval or legacy-based approaches. At the heart of Autonomy's software is its ability to process text, voice and video and identify and rank the main concepts within them. It then automatically categorizes, links, summarizes, personalizes and delivers that information in any language. Autonomy's technology also drives collaboration across the enterprise and enables organizations to effectively leverage expertise. Autonomy's infrastructure technology is used to automate operations within enterprise information portals, customer relationship management, knowledge management, business intelligence and e-business applications, among others.
