Cardiff to Showcase City of Boston's Use of Business Process Automation Suite and HP Tablet PC Beta Test at AIIM Conference

City of Boston to demonstrate integration of Cardiff's TELEform® and LiquidOffice™ business process automation solutions with the mobility and versatility of HP's Compaq Tablet PC

San Diego, CA - 2003-04-07 - Cardiff Software Inc., a leading global provider of business process-automation solutions, today announced that it is showcasing the City of Boston's use of Cardiff's complete business process automation (BPA) suite at the AIIM Conference opening today in New York City and running through April 9, 2003. AIIM attendees visiting Cardiff's booth (#2353) will see an interactive demonstration of the City of Boston's beta test of Cardiff's TELEform® and LiquidOffice™ BPA solutions operating on the Compaq Tablet PC from HP.

In addition to the specific City of Boston demonstration, Cardiff will also hold booth demonstrations that will highlight how Cardiff's LiquidOffice eForm automation solution works "out of the box" for the Compaq Tablet PC to provide remote knowledge workers with a new level of mobility and productivity.

A Cardiff customer since June 2001, the City of Boston is taking advantage of Cardiff's BPA suite to automate the collection, verification and response processes for various city forms. The City of Boston is currently using Cardiff TELEform and LiquidOffice to automate a variety of internal and public-facing form-driven processes.

The City of Boston is using TELEform's information capture functionality to automatically process paper-based forms and its eForm option to host online forms. Working seamlessly together, TELEform automatically passes the data collected via these two methods into LiquidOffice. With its advanced eForm automation capabilities, LiquidOffice extends the process-automation lifecycle by automatically managing the routing, tracking and approval process throughout the organization.

Craig Burlingame, CIO for the City of Boston, comments, "Using Cardiff TELEform and LiquidOffice as an integrated business process automation solution, we are able to take advantage of the latest eForm automation technology while still accommodating people who prefer to utilize paper-based forms."

Committed to finding the most innovative solutions to help deliver better service and streamline costs, the City of Boston is currently beta testing the Compaq Tablet PC TC1000 to see how it can take advantage of the platform's versatility and mobility to increase the productivity of remote knowledge workers. As part of the beta test, the City of Boston is using the Compaq Tablet PC to collect field reports to be entered by a designated neighborhood coordinator of Mayor Thomas M. Menino's Office of Neighborhood Services. The input form will be powered by TELEform's eForm option, which will pass the completed data to LiquidOffice. LiquidOffice will then automatically route the form to the appropriate city officials for review and approval before joining an existing system using a workflow.

Burlingame continues, "We look forward to seeing how we can extend the benefits of Cardiff's software suite with the mobility of the Tablet PC platform. I have been personally using a Tablet PC for the past several months and believe there is a significant opportunity to utilize this technology platform for future field automation projects. As part of the beta test, a city employee of Mayor Thomas M. Menino's Office of Neighborhood Services working in the field will be able to log information using the Tablet PC in real time. We anticipate that this versatility will help improve the quality of the reports and also speed processing to enable a faster city response."

Cardiff's BPA suite gives organizations the ability to convert existing manual tasks into automated digital processes. Its integrated solutions help organizations streamline their existing infrastructure through the elimination of paper and manual processes. This streamlining effect is accomplished by automating the collection, verification and response processes for the entire lifecycle of business forms and documents. Forms and documents are the foundation of every business. Automating business processes associated with forms and documents can dramatically increase productivity and reduce costs.

"The inherent mobility and versatility of the Tablet PC platform make it a natural and valuable extension to Cardiff's suite of business process automation solutions," said Dan Shirra, Cardiff's vice president of Worldwide Marketing. "The beauty of LiquidOffice is its standards-based architecture, which enables it to integrate seamlessly with the Compaq Tablet PC and other key enterprise systems and back-end applications."

The demonstration of the Compaq Tablet PC TC1000 will show how mobile field force personnel will be able to access eForms in PDF or HTML to easily fill, submit, route and sign electronic forms directly from the device - by keyboard or handwriting - and immediately submit them over a standard Web browser. The demonstration also will show how the combined solution will be particularly useful to form-driven industries that utilize a highly mobile workforce, such as government, finance and healthcare.

"The Compaq Tablet PC enables remote knowledge workers to enter data while the actual work is being performed," said Naila Seif, director, Tablet PC Solutions, HP Personal Systems Group. "The combination of the Compaq Tablet PC's innovative mobile platform design and LiquidOffice's ability to automate costly manual processes and increase employee productivity is particularly appealing to government, finance and healthcare organizations."
