Telos Selects Verity to Enhance Its Automated Message Handling System Used by Department of Defense and Other Federal Agencies
Verity K2 Enterprise Software Provides Higher Security, Better Performance
SUNNYVALE, Calif - 2003-03-31 - Verity Inc., (NASDAQ: VRTY), a leading provider of enterprise software that helps organizations maximize the return on their intellectual capital investment, today announced the integration of its Verity K2 Enterprise (K2E) and Verity Profiler software into the new release of Telos Corporation's comprehensive Automated Message Handling System (AMHS). Currently all Combatant Commands and other key DoD offices, as well as the Federal Aviation Administration, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency, and other selected federal law enforcement agencies rely on the Telos AMHS to support their organizational electronic messaging requirements.
"Now, more than ever, it's important to efficiently and accurately prioritize and route the thousands of organizational messages, e-mails, and news feeds to the immediate attention of those responsible for planning or action. The ability to conduct rapid and thorough searches of message archives to facilitate tracking and data analysis is also a priority," said Mike Masters, director of the Telos AMHS business unit. "The Verity K2E and Profiler software's high performance and ability to make critical routing decisions drove our decision to incorporate it into the Telos AMHS," continued Masters.
In many government offices, most messages arrive at a general account mailbox, such as info@agencyname.gov or officeroftheday@department.mil. Rather than requiring an administrator or analyst to evaluate every message, the Verity technology helps to quickly and accurately sort and distribute them to the appropriate contact. A content search checks for specific words or messages defined by the user. These user-defined terms identified in the message and its attachments determine how the message is handled.
"Security is essential in this process," commented Masters. "Our system must provide both content and organizational segregation to control access to selected messages. Using K2E, we're able to segregate messages, thereby controlling who sees them and maintaining need-to-know policies."
This K2E document-level security feature permits only authorized individuals to retrieve these messages. Others within the organization will remain unaware of their existence. This same capability supports inter-organizational sharing of information based on organizational policy.
"After an extensive evaluation of available technology, we selected Verity K2E because we believe its features and performance will substantially benefit our users," said Masters. "Verity K2E offers more content control, higher processing speed and, certainly, more security. Relevant search results were also returned by K2E much faster."
"The Telos AMHS customer group, including the Joint Chiefs of Staff and all of DoD's Combatant Commands, has understandably high performance demands," said Anthony J. Bettencourt, Verity's president and CEO. "With Verity, Telos found the best way to provide greater performance and higher security to its message handling system, thereby better serving the needs of its users in the federal government."
