Cardiff Automates Business Processes for District of Columbia

LiquidOffice™ helps District of Columbia's Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) meet e-Government initiatives through automatic processing of district government forms

San Diego, CA - 2003-03-31 - Cardiff Software Inc., a leading global provider of business process-automation solutions, today announced that the District of Columbia's Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) is implementing the LiquidOffice™ eForm automation solution to automate form-driven processes across more than 50 agencies in the district.

Currently, more than 20 district agencies are using LiquidOffice to automate the way public and internal forms are submitted, processed and routed for approval. LiquidOffice enables these agencies to automate a wide variety of district government forms, such as those relating to taxes, insurance, unemployment and public works. Agencies are also using LiquidOffice internally, providing access to employee-focused forms via organizational intranets. OCTO's greater plan is to roll out LiquidOffice to all agencies, which will help the district comply with e-Government initiatives calling for the use of technology to improve efficiency, effectiveness and responsiveness.

The district is taking advantage of LiquidOffice's Web-based interface and open architecture to quickly capture, process and respond to pertinent information submitted by its constituents and employees via easy-to-use, online forms. LiquidOffice gives the district the ability to easily publish interactive forms online, which can be accessed around-the-clock, even from remote locations. In addition to providing an online interface for submitting forms, LiquidOffice enables the district to reduce data entry costs through its ability to transfer form data directly into back office applications and databases.

LiquidOffice's ability to bring forms online will enable district agencies to be even more accessible and responsive to its citizens, which ultimately supports the district's commitment to providing the highest levels of customer service. After evaluating several competing solutions, OCTO selected Cardiff LiquidOffice for its balance of functionality and cost.

"LiquidOffice's flexibility and versatility will come in very handy, given that OCTO supports more than 50 different agencies - each with different functions and needs," said Russ Gould, Cardiff's director of product management. "With LiquidOffice, OCTO is able to provide the district's agencies with powerful eForm technology to better serve its public, while reducing costs and increasing productivity and efficiency."

The scalability and high performance of LiquidOffice will provide the district with a solid foundation for automating all their business-critical form-driven processes. Cardiff's open systems approach provides them with the flexibility to take advantage of new technologies while still leveraging their investments in existing systems.

LiquidOffice also supports intelligent routing, tracking and secure digital approval, so entire processes can be managed online and forms can be automatically routed for approval. This significantly reduces the amount of time and expense it currently takes to process and approve forms by reducing data entry requirements and eliminating the need for end users to print, fill out and mail back forms. Additional benefits experienced by organizations migrating to LiquidOffice include streamlining internal operational processes; accelerating delivery of data and documents to backend systems; reducing administrative costs; and eliminating data errors with business rules processing.
