Xerox Selects Dralasoft Workflow for DocuShare Document and Content Management Software
SAN DIEGO, Calif. - 2003-03-24 - Dralasoft announced today that Xerox Corporation has licensed Dralasoft Workflow for inclusion into DocuShare(R), Xerox's Web-based document and content management software. By embedding Dralasoft Workflow engine into DocuShare, Xerox can help its DocuShare customers route documents more efficiently across their enterprises through workflows built with modeling tools that automate and map customer business processes.
"Customers in complex document-intensive environments often need customized workflow capabilities to optimize and accelerate their unique business processes," said David Smith, vice president and general manager, Xerox DocuShare Business Unit. "Dralasoft Workflow provides the flexibility and integration we need when we deploy DocuShare across large enterprises, enhancing our ability to help customers to work better with greater productivity."
According to Gartner research (1), document workflow is a fast route to enterprise savings and an increasingly essential component to document management solutions. Gartner predicts that "through 2005, enterprises that fail to exploit document workflow effectively will realize less than 40 percent of the total cost savings document or content management systems can provide, and will take twice as long to recover initial software costs." (0.7 probability)
DocuShare is an intuitive and secure Web-based document management application that can be deployed for a variety of uses. As a document repository, it keeps critical information safe, yet easy to access and distribute. Users can store any file type, including office documents, images, media files and graphics. As a content management system, it updates and manages the content of a Web site and its interface can be customized. As a collaborative project management system, it enables users to organize, manage and share all of a project's information. In addition, the Java-based DocuShare platform will enable third parties to quickly develop custom workflow applications through Dralasoft Workflow. DocuShare runs on Windows(TM), Linux and Solaris(TM) systems and requires minimal overhead to configure, deploy, use and administer.
Dralasoft Workflow is being used across a range of verticals to enable Business Process Management. Dralasoft delivers a Java-based workflow product that is scalable and extensible, enabling software vendors, system integrators and enterprises to deliver vertical or line-of-business solutions that leverage business process automation tools and methods. Dralasoft products provide the capability to quickly and smoothly integrate workflow technology into Java-based systems, and offer simple, high performance, and cost- effective software integration based on standards such as Java, XML, SOAP, LDAP, HTTP and JDBC.
Dralasoft Workflow Engine is a highly optimized runtime Java component providing the capabilities needed in a mission-critical production environment and is the core component of the Dralasoft Workflow solution. Among the numerous advanced features are caching, thread-pooling, persistence, clustering, load balancing, and notification. Dralasoft Workflow Studio is a visual design tool for developing workflows by dragging and dropping predefined tasks. The Studio offers the ability to model complex workflows including sub-workflows, attach data as attributes, and launch and test workflows -- all without programming. Due to its flexibility and intuitive interface, the Studio can be used by programmers and business analysts alike. The Studio is customizable to easily enable integration into existing applications via XML. Dralasoft Workflow Manager provides monitoring and management services to support mission-critical deployments, offering users complete control and insight into the activity of workflows individually and as a collective group. Additional capabilities include isolating bottlenecks in workflows, gathering and analyzing statistics and reporting. Dralasoft Workflow client applications are also usable over the web making Dralasoft Workflow a good fit for Web-based applications.
"Xerox's selection of Dralasoft Workflow underscores our commitment to deliver the best workflow solution for Java-based applications," said Richard Rogers, Vice President of Business Operations at Dralasoft. "With Dralasoft powering the workflow behind DocuShare, users will have more flexibility in utilizing workflow as part of their content management system. We are delighted to provide this key enhancement for the DocuShare platform."
