The American Hospital Association Taps Verity For Search & Classification Technology in Health Care Web Portal
Verity K2 Catalog Plays an Important Role in AHA?s New HospitalConnect Site
SUNNYVALE, Calif - 2003-02-18 - The American Hospital Association's (AHA) HospitalConnect™ Web portal, launched today, features search and classification technologies from Verity Inc. (NASDAQ: VRTY), a leading provider of enterprise software that helps organizations maximize the return on their intellectual capital investment.
The site, www.hospitalconnect.com, aims to be the principal portal for hospital and health care professionals to better share ideas and innovations. HospitalConnect is intended to serve as a key touch point to link those in the health care field to essential resources and to each other as well as a way to make better use of technology to help enhance patient care. The portal contains critical data, such as regulatory information, best practices, research, educational materials, news and products.
Verity K2 Catalog (K2C) software was selected by the AHA to provide a comprehensive search and classification solution for this field-first Web portal. The factors in the association's decision were Verity K2C's scalability and its exceptional ability to meet AHA's multi-format requirements. HospitalConnect brings together 50 different Web sites that serve health care providers. Verity K2C technology lets individuals quickly find the desired, relevant information, with a very high degree of accuracy, that may reside in any one of the 50 unique sites. The sites, formerly operated on 22 different platforms, are now interrelated and intersearchable via only one platform. Further, Verity K2C's fault tolerance is designed to ensure that information can be sorted through and retrieved on a 24x7 basis.
