Cardiff and HP to Promote LiquidOffice™ for Compaq TC1000 Tablet PC
eForm automation solution takes full advantage of the Tablet PC platform to provide ultimate mobility for remote knowledge workers to access, complete and submit electronic forms
San Diego & Palo Alto, CA - 2003-02-10 - Cardiff Software Inc., a leading global provider of business process-automation solutions, and HP (NYSE: HPQ) today announced an initiative to promote Cardiff LiquidOffice™ running on the Compaq TC1000 Tablet PC. The initiative will highlight how Cardiff Software's eForm automation solution can be combined with the TC1000 to provide remote knowledge workers with increased levels of mobility and productivity. The combined solution will be targeted to form-driven industries, such as government, finance/insurance and healthcare, which utilize a highly mobile workforce.
Knowledge workers taking advantage of the combined solution will be able to use LiquidOffice to easily complete, route and sign electronic forms directly from the Tablet PC using a keyboard or handwriting and submit them over a standard Web browser. In addition to wired access, the application can be accessed locally via an available wireless connection, while access outside of a local area can be made available through a third-party wireless service. The form can then be electronically routed according to workflow processes for approvals, database updates and automated request transactions. Based on form-driven requirements, LiquidOffice can also deliver a rapid response to the TC1000 unit from a wide range of backend applications.
"HP's highly mobile and versatile Compaq TC1000 Tablet PC will provide remote users of LiquidOffice with the ultimate platform to access, complete and submit electronic forms in the field," said Mark Seamans, chief technology officer at Cardiff. "HP is a longstanding member of Cardiff's Alliance Partner Program, and this new collaboration to bring LiquidOffice's eForm technology to the Tablet PC will expand our relationship to a whole new category of customers."
"The innovative Compaq TC1000 Tablet PC and Cardiff's powerful eForm automation solution are changing the way data is gathered, recorded and transmitted," said Ken Jarvis, director, healthcare solutions, HP Enterprise Systems Group. "Together, these technologies permit data to be entered from the very point at which the work is being done. They are a powerful tool by which form-driven organizations can lower their cost of doing business by improving the efficiency and productivity of their personnel."
Making full use of open standards to promote interoperability and facilitate user adoption, Cardiff LiquidOffice utilizes established Web-based form technologies, such as HTML, PDF and XML. LiquidOffice also takes advantage of the mobile environment made possible by its out-of-the box compatibility with the Microsoft® Windows XP Tablet PC Edition® platform.
The Compaq TC1000 Tablet PC brings portable computing to a new level of convenience. About the size of a standard sheet of paper, less than one-inch thick and weighing only three pounds, the unit has the capabilities of a full-function desktop PC, with the added benefit of unmatched versatility. It can function using its own retractable keyboard and built-in mouse or as a tablet, using a digital pen to capture, store and retrieve handwritten documents in their original form. In an office setting, an external keyboard, mouse and monitor can be attached to stage the unit for complete desktop use.
