Verity Named a 'Top 100' Company by Two Leading Industry Publications

DM Review Cites Quality, Customer Satisfaction, Market Share in Selection

EContent Magazine Points to Activity and Performance in Digital Content Industry

SUNNYVALE, Calif. - 2002-12-10 - Verity Inc., (NASDAQ: VRTY), a leading provider of infrastructure software that powers corporate intranets and e-commerce sites as well as e-business applications, has been cited as a ‘Top 100' company by two leading IT business magazines, DM Review, a foremost publication for business intelligence and analytics, and EContent, an important monthly focusing on digital content strategies and resources. Both recognize Verity in their recently released December 2002 issues.

"These two well-regarded publications address different areas of software use within the enterprise yet they each acknowledge Verity as one of the companies serving the needs of their readers in outstanding ways," said Michael T. Zuckerman, Verity's vice president of marketing. "The ‘Top 100' honors underscore Verity's leadership in the information retrieval market and its ability to provide our customers with effective knowledge management solutions that provide maximum return on their intellectual assets."

"The DM Review 100 features the premier companies that are providing the strategic solutions for business intelligence, analytics and data warehousing," said Ronald J. Powell, DM Review's publisher and editorial director. "All the companies represented in the DM Review 100 are quality organizations that, depending on one's needs, belong on the short list for evaluation."

The DM Review 100 was determined by an exhaustive study conducted among readers of the publication by The Gantry Group, a market research firm. Key selection criteria were quality, customer satisfaction and market share.

"The definition of content continues to take on breadth and depth, with organizations realizing it isn't just what is specifically generated as content but, in fact, encompasses almost any knowledge, information or asset base," said Michelle Manafy, EContent's editor. "The Top 100 list reflects activity and performance in the content industry in 2002, and provides our EContent readers with both a starting point for navigating the content maze and an end point for those seeking final validation before choosing a solution."

According to the publication, a panel of experts who interact with hundreds of content companies, participate in industry events and routinely interact with vendors and users formulated the EContent 100.
