Open Text Introduces new E-Forms Capabilities for LiveLink Using Cardiff Technology
Chicago, IL, and San Diego, CA - 2002-11-06 - Open Text™ Corporation (Nasdaq: OTEX, TSX: OTC), provider of Livelink®, the leading collaboration and knowledge management software for the global enterprise, and Cardiff Software™, a leading global provider of business process-automation solutions, today introduced a new e-forms solution called Livelink eForms Management, which will make it easier for users to design and utilize complex forms in Livelink. The solution is based on the Data Collection Edition of LiquidOffice™ from Open Text Affinity Partner Cardiff Software, Inc.
Open Text and Cardiff are demonstrating the solution to Open Text's global install base of users from a variety of industries, who are attending Live LinkUp 2002, Open Text's annual user conference held this week in Chicago.
Livelink eForms Management is a fully integrated, easy-to-deploy solution that meets the critical need in large companies, especially those in regulated industries, for the uniform development and use of detailed forms.
The new offering extends the forms capabilities of Livelink, which are integrated with Livelink's document and knowledge management features. Customers benefit from being able to create detailed electronic forms in Livelink, use Livelink's workflows to automate the use of those forms and maintain forms with other documents and content in Livelink as part of a company's knowledge repository.
With Livelink eForms Management, users do not need detailed knowledge of HTML and Javascript to create a form, which is sometimes the case with competing solutions, and does not require the writing of custom code to connect to non-Livelink databases to populate fields in a form. Livelink eForms Management includes:
• The LiquidOffice Form designer used to create PDF, HTML, or XML form templates.
• Easy creation of forms with field-validation and database lookup to pre-populate fields from a non-Livelink database.
• Form management in Livelink with many ways to deploy forms-based applications.
• Form filling in a Web browser, while field data is submitted to Livelink and/or external databases.
• Forms integrated with Livelink's workflow to simplify the automation of forms-based business processes.
"Managing electronic forms has become increasingly important to the large organizations we serve, because of the growing number of laws regulating the development and processing of electronic documents," said Bill Forquer, senior vice president of business development at Open Text. "With Cardiff's LiquidOffice, we can offer an integrated, Web-based forms solution for Livelink that helps them meet regulatory mandates. Users have the flexibility to design complex e-forms with hundreds of fields, and leverage Livelink to manage those forms over the long term."
"Livelink is a recognized leader in collaboration and knowledge management software for global enterprises," said Mark Seamans, Chief Technology Officer of Cardiff Software. "The integration of LiquidOffice Data Collection Edition gives Livelink customers a powerful solution for automating forms-driven business processes."
LiquidOffice Data Collection Edition is a superior online data collection solution that is designed to bring maximum value to Cardiff OEM partners. Incorporating the core data collection feature-set of LiquidOffice, Data Collection Edition is based on the same open standards that enable it to easily integrate with a variety of industry specific solutions and complementary back-office applications. Cardiff offers a suite of integrated products consisting of TELEform®, LiquidOffice and LiquidPDF™ that support all phases of forms and document transactions - including paper document and form capture, eForm management, and PDF document assembly and delivery.
Open Text will continue to support Livelink PDF Forms Professional, its current forms product also based on Cardiff's technology, and offer an optional upgrade path to Livelink eForms Management.
