Autonomy Announces Greek Voice Recognition Technology

Autonomy and Greek Partner, 01 PLIROFORIKI, complete the first Greek language module for Autonomy's VoiceSuite

San Francisco, CA-October. 18, 2002- Autonomy Corporation plc (Nasdaq: AUTN; LSE: AU., Nasdaq Europe: AUTN), a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced the availability of the Autonomy VoiceSuite for the Greek language. The new module, developed in conjunction with Autonomy's partner, 01 PLIROFORIKI, will plug into Autonomy's Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL), allowing users to manage all unstructured, structured and semi-structured data, including voice, in the Greek language.

01 PLIROFORIKI, a provider of business consulting, IT services and integrated solutions, worked with Autonomy to develop the VoiceSuite technology for its extensive customer base of Greek enterprises and organizations. 01 PLIROFORIKI plans to introduce the product to the market through its media and government customers, and then moving to broader enterprise implementations.

"Autonomy's technology has always played a key role in helping our customers manage the vast amounts of data within their organizations, and the progression to full voice capabilities in Greek was a natural move," said Konstantinos Metaxas, CEO of 01 PLIROFORIKI. "Our customers are seeing significant growth in the amount of audio data they have to process, so adding voice capabilities is vital for our own and our customers' success."

"Working with a company like 01 PLIROFORIKI is the ideal way for us to rapidly expand our voice offerings," said Richard Gaunt, CTO of Autonomy. "By combining Autonomy's infrastructure technology and speech recognition modules with 01 PLIROFORIKI's expertise in enterprise information management implementation and localized Greek language issues, we provide companies with an ideal solution to managing all types of information."

Autonomy's unique Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) integrates unstructured, semi-structured and structured information from multiple repositories through an understanding of their content. Autonomy grants enterprises the flexibility to use advanced information retrieval or legacy-based approaches. At the heart of Autonomy's software is its ability to process text, voice and video and identify and rank the main concepts within them. It then automatically categorizes, links, summarizes, personalizes and delivers that information. Autonomy's technology also drives collaboration across the enterprise and enables organizations to effectively leverage expertise. Autonomy's infrastructure technology is used to automate operations within enterprise information portals, customer relationship management, knowledge management, business intelligence and e-business applications, among others.
