Kofax® and Cardiff Announce OEM Agreement to Integrate Cardiff LiquidOffice™ eForm Capture Technology With Kofax Ascent Capture® Platform

Kofax and Cardiff develop an integration to extend Ascent's e-capture capabilities by enabling users to design, deploy and complete online forms using LiquidOffice Data Collection Edition

Irving and San Diego, CA - 2002-10-14 - Electronic Data and Document Capture provider Kofax and business process automation provider Cardiff Software Inc. today announced that the companies have signed a licensing agreement permitting Kofax to market an OEM version of Cardiff LiquidOffice™ that seamlessly integrates with Kofax Ascent Capture. The combined solution extends Ascent's e-capture capabilities by enabling its customers to capture and process information from online forms. Cardiff LiquidOffice Data Collection Edition for Kofax Ascent will be available in November 2002 through Kofax.

Gartner research analyst Garth Landers comments, "The marriage of forms processing technology and image capture represents a natural synergy. Enterprises are consistently seeking best of breed offerings in both arenas. As more and more businesses migrate their paper-based processes online, the ability to capture information from electronic forms becomes increasingly important. Image capture technology enables businesses to start the process of bringing information online, and once online, forms processing continues to add value by automating and streamlining labor intensive, form-driven tasks."

Integration with Cardiff LiquidOffice Data Collection Edition enhances the Kofax Ascent Capture platform with the online data collection feature-set of LiquidOffice, which enables users to design, deploy, complete and digitally sign intelligent HTML and PDF electronic forms. Ascent users wanting eForm routing, tracking and approval functionality can easily upgrade to LiquidOffice Enterprise Edition.

Kofax Ascent customers will be able to use LiquidOffice Data Collection Edition to easily capture data from electronic forms and deliver the information directly into the Ascent Capture system, where it can be automatically indexed and validated like any other electronic or paper-based data source and then released to any of more than 100 Enterprise Document Management or Enterprise Content Management applications.

"Adding electronic forms to the Ascent platform enables our customers to implement a single solution which will process all sources of information for a given business process or transaction ó whether the information arrives on paper forms, data streams from another application or now eForms," says Kofax Vice President of Marketing Anthony Macciola. "We found Cardiff LiquidOffice to be the most complete and open eForm solution on the market today. It will be a solid addition to the Ascent product line."

The Ascent Capture® platform for enterprise document and data capture economically and reliably captures large volumes of critical business information from paper as well as electronic sources such as XML, print streams, e-mail, application files, photos and Web forms. Capture operations can be centralized or highly distributed to capture information as quickly, accurately and inexpensively as possible.

A leading provider of process automation solutions, Cardiff offers a suite of integrated products consisting of TELEform®, LiquidOffice and LiquidPDF™ that support all phases of forms and document transactions - including paper document and form capture, eForm management, and PDF document assembly and delivery. The recent introduction of LiquidOffice Data Collection Edition expands LiquidOffice's integration capabilities to enable enterprise application providers to easily embed the select eForm information capture components of LiquidOffice.

"Kofax Ascent Capture is already recognized as a premier capture solution, and this agreement further increases its value through the addition of eForm information capture technology," said Cardiff Vice President of Marketing Dan Shirra. "Kofax's decision to incorporate LiquidOffice technology into their document and data capture solution is a strong validation of the market demand for innovative and effective eForm solutions."
