Cardiff and Xerox Offer Automated Solution For Processing Common Business Forms

Joint Solution Helps Companies Speed Up, Streamline Management of Business Critical Documents

Rochester, NY and San Diego, CA - 2002-10-01 - Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX) and Cardiff Software Inc. introduced today the first automated solution that enables office workers to quickly and simply process common business forms, such as expense reports and purchase orders. The solution combines the Web-based form processing capabilities of Cardiff LiquidOffice™ with Xerox Document Centre digital multifunction systems.

Through a Xerox Document Centre system, users can scan paper documents - including price quotes, receipts, and applications - directly into their personal online folder within LiquidOffice. These digital documents can then be attached to an eForm and electronically routed, processed, tracked, approved and archived, using a common Web-based HTML interface.

The solution is aimed at human resources, accounting, sales and order entry departments and other business areas where forms-driven processes are prevalent. It can, for instance, be used to automate new-hire enrollment or to streamline purchase order processing.

As an example, Leon County Schools in Tallahassee, Fla., manually processes travel expense reports for its 4,000 teachers and administrative staff across 40 school centers. With this new solution, school employees will be able to use a Xerox Document Centre to scan receipts directly into a personal LiquidOffice folder, pull up their individual travel expense form, attach receipts and route for approval. Electronic submission not only speeds up approval, but also allows the individual and the finance department to track where it is in the process.

"Automating our form-driven processes will save us time and money, as well increase responsiveness, eliminate errors and provide better overall service," said Bill Piotrowski, executive director of Technology & Information Services, at Leon County Schools. "LiquidOffice and Document Centre systems really bring the value of their respective solutions to the end user through a familiar and intuitive interface - and this standards-based approach is a lot less taxing on our IT resources."

LiquidOffice uses a Web-based user interface that gives system administrators a complete and secure overview of the system -- from setting up database links, managing user profiles, publishing forms and managing how the forms are processed -- improving user satisfaction.

Xerox Document Centre systems combine printing, copying, scanning and faxing and offer print speeds of 20 to 90 pages per minute, helping office workers be more efficient and productive.

Cardiff Software is a premier member of Xerox's Business Partner Program. Both Xerox and Cardiff will develop this solution and market it to their collective customer bases.

Pricing and Availability

The integrated solution is available immediately in the U.S. from Cardiff certified resellers and Xerox direct sales representatives. LiquidOffice v2.1 licensing fees start at $15,000 and include one Form Designer, Form Server and 50 Full User Login. Xerox Document Centre systems range in price from $5,000 - $49,500.
