Autonomy Corporation to Present at Merrill Lynch Technology Opportunities Conference

Autonomy CEO and CoFounder Mike Lynch To Discuss Autonomy's Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL)

San Francisco, Calif., September 24, 2002 - Autonomy Corporation plc (Nasdaq: AUTN; LSE: AU., Nasdaq Europe: AUTN), a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced that CEO and Founder Mike Lynch will speak at the Merrill Lynch Technology Opportunities Conference on Friday, September 27 at 1:30 p.m. B.S.T. The presentation, focused on Autonomy's unique intelligent infrastructure technology, will be given at the Merrill Lynch Financial Centre in London.

In his presentation, "Automating Enterprise Information Management to Deliver Significant Business Benefits," Lynch will discuss the need for an intelligent infrastructure within enterprises to handle expanding amounts of business critical information. Autonomy's unique Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) automatically integrates and delivers information from multiple repositories throughout the enterprise based on a contextual understanding of the content. By automatically delivering useful information in context to employees based on their interests and expertise, IDOL allows corporations to achieve significant ROI by reducing administrative costs and duplication of effort, bringing products to market faster and operating more efficiently.

"I am very pleased to have the opportunity to present at the prestigious Merrill Lynch Technology Opportunities Conference in London," said Lynch. "This is an exciting educational opportunity. I look forward to discussing what are the overwhelming burdens of information management within the modern enterprise and the need for an automated solution."

Lynch studied Electrical and Information Sciences at Cambridge University in England where he received a Ph.D. in adaptive techniques in signal processing and connectionist models as well as a research fellowship in adaptive pattern recognition. His ground-breaking approach and research in these subjects provided a spring board from which he subsequently instigated a series of innovative and entrepreneurial activities including the launch of his first company Neurodynamics in 1991, followed by Autonomy in 1996 and latterly Ncorp in 2000.

About the Merrill Lynch Technology Opportunities Conference
