Autonomy Associate Wins Innovation Award

Dremedia Honored for its Unique Technology

CAMBRIDGE, England - 19 September, 2002: Autonomy Corporation plc (Nasdaq: AUTN; LSE: AU., Nasdaq Europe: AUTN), a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced that its associate, Dremedia Limited, a leading broadcast technology company, has been awarded a prestigious Peter Wayne Award for Recognition of Achievement in Design and Innovation by the International Association of Broadcast Manufacturers (IABM). Autonomy is Dremedia's lead outside investor.

The Peter Wayne Award, which is presented for the product judged to be the best and most innovative at the annual International Broadcasting Convention, was accepted by Dremedia Chief Executive Officer Matthew Karas. Dremedia joins previous winners which include: Sony, Panasonic, Avid, NTL and Quantel.

Mike Lynch, co-founder and CEO of Autonomy, commented: "Established, only one year ago, Dremedia produced a tool using Autonomy's unique infrastructure technology that delivers significant ROI for broadcast news organizations," said Lynch. "Dremedia is recognized not only as an innovative leader by customers and partners, such as the BBC and CNN, but also by the broadcast industry. We are delighted that Dremedia has received industry recognition in the form of this honorary award."

Matthew Karas, founder and CEO of Dremedia added, "We are very proud to have received this award, which is the highest possible recognition of technology innovation in the broadcast industry. Our mission is to apply best of breed technologies, such as Autonomy's infrastructure software, to automate the key tasks associated with media management. This award is a great endorsement of our success in delivering on this vision."

Autonomy's Intelligent Data Operating Layer integrates unstructured, semi-structured and structured information through an understanding of the content. At the heart of Autonomy's software is its ability to analyze text, audio, video and voice and identify and rank the main concepts within it. It then automatically categorizes, links, personalizes and delivers that information.
