Virage Rolls Out Foreign Language Support For Newest Products
SAN MATEO, Calif. - September 18, 2002 - Virage, Inc. [NASDAQ: VRGE] today announced that its latest platform products, including the SmartEncode™ VideoLogger® 5.0 and the Virage Solution Server™ (VSS) 4.0, are available in simplified Chinese, German, and Japanese languages. With more than 350 customers worldwide, Virage is a leading provider of video and rich media communication software.

For the first time, customers can install the award-winning VideoLogger 5.0 and the VSS 4.0 with a user-interface fully localized in simplified Chinese, Japanese and German. In addition to these languages, customers can also take advantage of Virage speech recognition plug-ins that support Brazilian Portuguese, Italian, Spanish, and UK English.

The Virage SmartEncode suite works in real-time to control, automate and streamline any video capture or ingest workflow. The SmartEncode family includes: VideoLogger, ControlCenter™, Media Analysis Plug-ins, VideoLogger Software Developer's Kit (SDK), and a variety of other value-added plug-ins. The VideoLogger encodes and indexes the video in real-time, creating multiple hi- and low-resolution versions of the source content simultaneously. ControlCenter remotely schedules, controls and automates the capture process from multiple video sources, allowing customers to scale their installation without adding overhead. Media Analysis Plug-ins provide automatic, real-time recognition of speech, audio classification, faces and on-screen text in the video content.
