ATG And Autonomy Announce OEM And Reseller Relationship

Autonomy's Technology Will Power New ATG Search Module in ATG6, Providing Advanced Information Retrieval

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., and SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., August 12, 2002 - ATG (Art Technology Group, Inc., Nasdaq: ARTG), a leading developer of online CRM applications for commerce, portals, and relationship management, and Autonomy Corporation plc (Nasdaq: AUTN; LSE: AU.; Nasdaq Europe: AUTN), a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced an OEM and reseller relationship. Under terms of the agreement, Autonomy will provide advanced enterprise information retrieval capabilities for the ATG Search Module, a key component of ATG6, which was unveiled today (see separate announcement).

Autonomy's infrastructure technology will provide the backbone for ATG Search, a full-featured enterprise retrieval application tightly integrated with the ATG Relationship Management Platform, and the ATG Commerce and ATG Portal solutions. Leveraging ATG's Data Anywhere Architecture, which enables access to information from multiple sources without moving or replicating data, ATG Search allows users to retrieve and index all the content required as part of their ATG applications - including file and database content accessed using DAA and content stored on internal and external web sites.

Autonomy's unique technology integrates unstructured, semi-structured and structured information from multiple repositories through an understanding of the content and then delivers it to the user. At the heart of Autonomy's software is its ability to analyze text and voice (regardless of language) and identify and rank the main concepts within it. This concept-based approach delivers more accurate and relevant information than key-word based solutions.

"We are partnering with the industry's premier enterprise infrastructure vendor Autonomy to add this critical component to the ATG6 solution," said Fumi Matsumoto, vice president of technology, ATG. "The ability to easily retrieve information regardless of where it resides across the enterprise, combined with our existing personalization capabilities, provides a powerful value proposition to our entire range of customers and partners."

With its advanced functionality and tight integration with ATG's existing platform, ATG Search can help companies drive sales, improve service and increase productivity while also yielding savings in terms of time-to-market and implementation costs.

"This partnership was a natural fit and creates a relationship that will be beneficial to both companies," Autonomy co-founder and chief technology officer, Richard Gaunt said. "Our enterprise infrastructure helps ATG extend their already comprehensive Commerce and Portal solutions for online sales, marketing, and support. In addition, it helps ATG to provide one of the most competitive solutions available for employee portals."

ATG Search provides unique value to each of the primary components of ATG6:

ATG Commerce: ATG Search helps customers quickly find the products that they are looking for, increasing the likelihood of the transaction being completed, thereby driving up online sales.

ATG Portal: ATG Search works across multiple data sources to rapidly locate the self-service information that customers or employees are looking for.

"Giving customers, partners and employees the ability to quickly find the detailed information they are looking for is critical, said Gene Phifer, vice president, Gartner. It increases sales, as customers are more likely to find relevant products and product information. Employee productivity is also enhanced, as the time to find information is decreased and the relevancy of the information retrieved is increased."
