Virage Rich Media Applications Now Available On Oracle9i Database
SAN MATEO, Calif. - July 30, 2002 - Virage, Inc. [NASDAQ: VRGE], a Member Partner within the Oracle PartnerNetwork, today announced that its video and rich media communication software now supports Oracle9i Database. As a result, Virage customers can store, manage and publish video and other rich media assets on an Oracle® database technology just as they do with other mission critical information.

In a related announcement today, Virage announced the availability of VS Publishing 2.0, a next-generation product that allows companies with branded content to turn their video and other rich media content into compelling Internet programming. VS Publishing and VS Production, which was announced in April 2002, are the first Virage applications to support the Oracle9i Database. Virage expects to release additional Oracle-powered applications in the near future.
The Virage solutions provide a complete, end-to-end workflow for video and rich media communications. The solutions include:
VS Webcasting™ - gives companies a combined solution for planning and producing interactive, live webcasts as well as on-demand searchable events.
VS Learning™ - allows organizations to create, manage, publish and view rich-media training courses, online learning applications, presentations and briefings.
VS Publishing™ - allows media & entertainment companies and others with branded content to turn their video and other rich-media content into compelling Internet programming.
VS Production™ - automates and streamlines the professional video workflow from acquisition to distribution.
The Virage solutions are built on the Virage Solution Server™ (VSS). VSS provides a range of content management functions for enterprise-scale rich media applications, including access control, content editing, data storage, and full text search. Any Virage application can be customized with an optional Software Developer's Kit (SDK). The SDK can be used to build new applications entirely or help integrate VSS with other enterprise applications.
